‘Another Sleepless Night for John Mara’ — NFL Fans Clown Giants for Losing Saquon Barkley After Dominant Playoff Game for Eagles

Saquon Barkley put the Philadelphia Eagles on his back with a spectacular two-touchdown, 205-yard game in the Divisional Round.

The former New York Giants star already has 2,489 scrimmage yards across 18 regular-season and postseason games in 2024. NFL fans are piling insults onto the Giants’ front office for failing to pay him what he’s worth.

NFL Fans Hail Saquon Barkley, Roast Giants’ Front Office for Ineptitude

Barkley came up big all game long for the Eagles against the Los Angeles Rams. The snowy conditions, mixed with the precipitation, made passing a tough exercise for both quarterbacks. It fell to both teams’ offensive lines and running backs to wrestle control of the game. The No. 2 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft made sure to win his share of the battle.

Barkley’s barnstorming runs prompted a lot of NFL fans to take to social media in appreciation. A few of them hailed him as the greatest talent they’ve seen at the running back position.

“Saquon putting together one of the all-time great seasons for a running back,” one fan said.

Bijan Robinson chipped in with his own compliment:

Predictably, the conversation around Barkley also turned into a humiliation ritual for the Giants’ front office and fanbase.

“Saquon. THIS DUDE. But the Giants thought Daniel Turnovers was more important. Another sleepless night for John Mara,” said another user, taking a shot at Daniel Jones as well.

“The Giants owe us all an apology for wasting the first six years of Saquon Barkley,” claimed a media personality.

The Giants invested quite a few picks over their six seasons keeping Barkley on the roster, but none of those moves panned out, leaving him to navigate his way out of intense pressure.

Giants president, CEO, and co-owner John Mara was also unreasonably hesitant to pay Barkley the top dollar he’d richly earned as the team’s best player. All-in-all, the Penn State product’s time in New York proved to be a waste for all parties involved.

However, the Eagles had the requisite pay package, setup, and talent to help Barkley secure only the ninth 2,000-yard rushing season in league history. If they can make this postseason run count with a Super Bowl win, Barkley could be cemented as an all-time great of Pennsylvania sports.
