Daniel Jones and the New York Giants lost 26-18 to the Pittsburgh Steelers on “Monday Night Football.” With this loss, the Giants are now 2-6 on the season, and questions have begun to arise about their starting quarterback’s future.
Jones threw a game-losing interception to Beanie Bishop and once again failed to lead his team to a win. Unsurprisingly, Giants fans called him out on social media after the game.
Fans Call Out Daniel Jones After Giants QB’s Game-Ending Interception
Here’s how the fans reacted after Jones failed to deliver in the fourth quarter of the game against the Steelers:
Daniel Jones shouldn’t be employed

“Worst QB in the league. He is torturing us,” said one fan.
“There’s a legit argument to be made about DJ being the worst QB in the NFL with [Deshaun Watson] being out for the season,” added another fan.
Enough is enough, when will this franchise make a common sense decision

“He shouldn’t take another snap for this team,” wrote one fan.
“Couldn’t dream of a more perfect ending to his career, put him in the booth with Garrett,” said another fan referring to Jones’ former head coach and current commentator Jason Garrett.
We’ll never see a QB like this again. Daniel Jones was one of a kind
• Started 2-6 or worse in 5/6 seasons
• 20+ pass TD’s in 1/6 seasons
• 24-42-1 record
• 1-15 primetime record
• 0 pass TD’s in 6 straight home gamesNo QB with THAT resume will get this many chances again

Jones had two opportunities to tie the game for the Giants in the fourth quarter. Before throwing an interception, he was strip-sacked by T.J. Watt on the previous drive at the Steelers’ 19-yard line.
In eight games this season, the Giants quarterback has thrown for 1,706 yards, six touchdowns, and five interceptions, completing 62.6% of his throws with a passer rating of 79.5.
He has not thrown a touchdown pass since the 29-20 win against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 5. Giants fans’ patience has taken a toll, and some want the team to bench Jones. New York currently has Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito as the other quarterbacks on their roster.
The Giants are currently on a three-game losing streak, and their next game is against the 6-2 Washington Commanders. New York has a bye in Week 11, and it may be possible that the team benches Jones after that.
Jones’ Contract Details: Can Giants Afford To Part Ways With QB?
In 2023, the Giants signed Jones to a four-year, $160 million contract extension. He still has two years left on his deal, but the franchise does have a chance of parting ways with the Duke product after the ongoing NFL season.
The 27-year-old quarterback will earn a base salary of $30 million next season and $46.5 million in the 2026 NFL season. If the Giants release or trade Jones after this season, they’ll have to take a dead cap hit of $33.31 million.

The Denver Broncos took $85 million in dead cap hits after releasing Russell Wilson, and despite that, they are in a much better situation than the Giants. The best possible solution for the Giants is to part ways with Jones after this season and draft a quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft. Things would get easier for the NFC East franchise if any other team tries to trade for Jones, but as of now, that seems unlikely.
Given how their season has gone so far, New York will likely be in a position to draft early next year. Due to this, they will have a chance of getting either Shedeur Sanders, Cam Ward, or Quinn Ewers. The Giants already have a young superstar in Malik Nabers, and pairing him with a new quarterback will be an ideal situation for the franchise.
