Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs came into Super Bowl 59 with a chance to achieve an astonishing milestone. They have a chance to become the first team in NFL history to win three straight Super Bowls, but things are not looking good for them.
At halftime, the Chiefs trail 24-0. The Philadelphia Eagles were helped by Mahomes throwing a pick-six that was caught by the Eagles’ star rookie Cooper DeJean and another interception later in the first half. This is the biggest deficit Kansas City has faced in the Super Bowl with Mahomes, apart from the one it lost in 2021 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Fans React to Patrick Mahomes’ Pick-6 Against the Eagles
The Eagles’ defense has completely shut down the Chiefs’ offense, and after two successive sacks, they forced Mahomes into making a big mistake. DeJean made the big play and helped his team extend its lead further.
Mahomes later threw another interception, which Zack Baun caught, and Philadelphia has made the NFL’s best quarterback look ordinary.
The fans on social media trolled the three-time Super Bowl MVP for throwing multiple interceptions. Here are some of the reactions to it:
That throw was so bad the ref couldn’t even help

“Patrick Mahomes seeing ghosts? I mean, what is happening?” wrote a fan.
Another fan added, “Patrick Mahomes isn’t the GOAT.”
Chiefs might be cooked. This reminds me of the Bucs Super Bowl where Mahomes is just running for his life all game. Doesn’t have a chance

“Mahomes getting blown out in two Super Bowls is a stain on his resume,” wrote another fan.
“Mahomes looks like Daniel Jones tonight,” said one fan.

The Chiefs’ offensive line struggled to contain the Eagles’ pass rushers, and Mahomes hasn’t had any time to throw the ball so far. Based on how the game has gone so far, the Eagles are on track to record a huge blowout win and stunningly take revenge for the Super Bowl loss against the Chiefs from two years ago.
No lead is big enough against a quarterback like Mahomes, but even a player of his caliber can’t do anything if his offensive line continues to make life tough for him. The Chiefs quarterback was sacked three times in the first half, and that number could potentially double in the second half if coach Andy Reid doesn’t make adjustments.
Mahomes himself hasn’t played well, and it will be fascinating to see how he plays in the second half. If the Eagles record a blowout win, it will be a huge stain on his résumé, as having the worst performance of your career in the biggest game of your career is a bad look for any player across sports.
Heading into this Super Bowl matchup, there were previous conversations regarding whether Mahomes would eclipse Tom Brady as the greatest player in NFL’s history if he led the Chiefs to a three-peat. Based on how the game against the Eagles has gone so far, it would be safe to assume that the 29-year-old quarterback’s name will not be brought up in similar conversations until he wins more Super Bowls than Brady.
With a loss to the Eagles, Mahomes would be 3-2 in Super Bowls. The two-time NFL MVP’s level has dropped in his Super Bowl losses, and the performance against the Eagles will further spoil his stats in the Super Bowl.
Mahomes threw for 33 yards and two interceptions, completing 42.9% of his throws with a passer rating of just 10.7.
