‘Would Be A Mess’ – NFL Fans Make Their Feelings Known About Deion Sanders And Shedeur Sanders Possibly Landing At Dallas

NFL fans make their feelings known on Deion Sanders and Shedeur Sanders not landing at Dallas and the newly hired Brian Schottenheimer.

On Jan. 24, the Dallas Cowboys shocked the football world when they announced that Brian Schottenheimer would be the franchise’s next head coach. The surprising news comes in the wake of a head coaching discussion with Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders and numerous interviews with potential candidates, including Robert Saleh and Kellen Moore.

However, it has now been confirmed by owner Jerry Jones himself that Schottenheimer is the man who will take over for Mike McCarthy, whose contract was not extended this offseason. As a result of this hire, football fans have taken to social media to express their thoughts on the matter.

Social Media Reaction To Brian Schottenheimer Hiring

Former NFL scout reposted a video by Michael Irvin that outlined how the Pro Football Hall of Famer believed that Deion Sanders would follow Shedeur if he was drafted by the Cowboys.

“The fact that Jerry Jones didn’t hire Deion Sanders (and the marketing bonanza that would have been) tells me that the Cowboys scouting department doesn’t see Shedeur Sanders as a first-round value in the 2025 #NFL Draft. It was supposedly a “package deal,” but it didn’t happen,” the post was captioned.

In response, one individual explained how they thought the Sanders father and son duo heading to Dallas would have been a mess.

“Dude idc who you are you don’t hitch your cart to that. Hiring Deion and drafting Shedeur would be a mess,” they outlined.

Next, one social media user presented another view of the situation and agreed with the original post’s assessment of Shedeur.

“He’s not a 1st round talent, but he’ll be drafted in the top 3. So the Cowboys can’t mortgage their future for marketing purposes. Also, it’s highly likely that Sheduer gets drafted by the Giants and I doubt he wants to face his kid twice a year,” they said.

However, one person expressed a different opinion and challenged the belief that Deion not becoming the head coach does not mean that the Cowboys do not view Shedeur as first-round value.

“It doesn’t say this at all. The lengths you go sometimes to draw correlation is head shaking,” they stated.

Sanders’ PFN’s 2025 NFL Draft Projection

In Pro Football Network’s recent 2025 NFL Mock Draft completed by Derek Tate, Sanders was selected No. 1 overall by the Titans.

As Tate notes, “If you were to poll Tennessee Titans fans on whether they would like to see another year of Will Levis under center, I would venture to guess the vast majority of the fan base likely wants to see the team go in a different direction. Personally, I’d be shocked if Brian Callahan isn’t willing to jump at the opportunity of bringing in a new face of the franchise under center.

“Shedeur Sanders threw for 7,364 yards and 64 touchdowns over his two years at Colorado, but his interceptions more than tripled from his junior to senior year.

“Sanders is far from a perfect prospect, with some limitations in his arm talent and eyebrow-raising responses to the media when things haven’t gone well in Colorado, but his flashes of processing, anticipation, and off-script creation all project favorably to competently running an NFL offense.”

Sanders clearly has the ability to make a difference at the professional level and be the missing piece the Titans have been looking for at quarterback. Meanwhile, as evidenced by his social media posts, Sanders is embracing the criticism from the fans and media ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft.
