NFL fans call out the Kansas City Chiefs QB in disgust after they learn about Patrick Mahomes' "weird" game-day superstition.

Patrick Mahomes is no stranger to believing in superstitions. Like several athletes across the sporting world, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback has his game-day rituals as well.

However, his ritual of wearing the same piece of underwear without washing them has NFL fans feeling grossed out. After the Chiefs’ loss to the Buffalo Bills, his red underwear can finally be washed.

NFL Fans Have a Field Day After Learning About Patrick Mahomes’ Game-Day Superstition

The 29-year-old has cemented himself as one of the best quarterbacks of his generation. However, that doesn’t stop the fans from ridiculing his habits. The QB revealed this particular ritual involving his underwear last year.

However, several fans are discovering the entire ordeal after one page on X (previously Twitter) repeated the fact. “CHIEFS QB PATRICK MAHOMES HAD NOT WASHED HIS RED UNDERWEAR IN TWO MONTHS NOW & HE WEARS THE PAIR EVERY SUNDAY. Mahomes does not wash this pair unless Kansas City loses… 10 games this season he wore them,” tweeted the user.

This understandably put the fans off and let their feelings be known. “That’s nasty asf,” replied one user.

“Idc bout superstition, in this case, that’s nasty work,” one fan added.

“Nah this is weird,” another fan responded.

“Gross. No need to tell everybody that,” replied one fan.

“Yeah this guy’s gross,” added another fan.

“Nah that’s foul idc how much you winning,” one user tweeted.

What Did Mahomes Reveal About His Underwear Superstition?

Last November, Mahomes appeared on ESPN’s ManningCast and revealed his special relationship with this particular red underwear since 2017. “First, my wife Brittany got them for me, so I’m not throwing y’all down, but I have to wear them,” he told Eli and Peyton Manning.

“At the same time, I threw them on that first season. We had a pretty good season that season. I wash them every once in a while, at least. If we’re on a hot streak, I can’t wash them. I gotta just keep it rolling. As long as I’m winning football games, I’ll keep the superstition going,” he added.

Mahomes has three Super Bowl rings to prove his underwear trick works better than most sporting superstitions. However, his lucky underwear will presumably be washed before the game with the Carolina Panthers in Week 12.
