NFL Fans Furious With Jets Owner Woody Johnson After Viral Tweet With Taylor Swift

Whether you're a player or an owner, when Taylor Swift is around, it has a way of bringing the fan out of almost anybody -- just ask Woody Johnson.

It is often said that there is a time and a place for everything. Well, for New York Jets owner Woody Johnson, the time and place was right for him to take a picture with Taylor Swift.

That is, despite the fact that the reason she was at the game was for an opposing player and also the fact that his team would eventually lose its third game of the season, none of it matters to the self-proclaimed “Swiftie” owner.

While there is nothing wrong with being a fan and taking a picture with the person you are a fan of, it goes back to the time and place argument — and Jets fans did not like the fact their owner was doing so.

When the opportunity presents itself, you have to take it. I assume that is what Johnson was thinking here when he took and posted this picture with Swift on social media.

The picture itself is harmless, just some fans getting the chance to take a picture with a megastar — a lot of people’s dream come true. Even so, some fans took exception to it.

When your team is 1-3, and you lost your quarterback to injury in the first drive of the season, the optics matter as well. Johnson did nothing wrong here, but this picture could have been one for the photo album rather than the social media feed, and it would have done the job just fine rather than riling up the masses.

Zach Wilson May Have Turned a Corner, But Is It Enough?

Jets quarterback Zach Wilson, despite the ending, may have been one of the shining moments of the night for New York. Against a quality Kansas City Chiefs team, he looked decisive, confident, and competent while under center. And while he will never be Aaron Rodgers, his play was an encouraging sign for the team.

Wilson finished the game by going 28 for 39 with 245 passing yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions. He did have a costly fumble in the game, but overall, his performance was an encouraging one for the team.

With the season only being a month old and a stellar defense to lean on, if Wilson is able to continue to progress and play close to how he played in Week 4, the Jets have a chance to be competitive in 2023, more so than many believed they would.
