Shedeur Sanders and Joe Burrow in the same sentence? Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan lit up the NFL world with a take that has fans doing double takes. The internet, though, isn’t buying it, and the reactions are anything but subtle.
Comparing a college quarterback still proving himself to an elite NFL gunslinger is surely bound to ruffle feathers.
Titans HC Sparks Debate With Shedeur Sanders-Joe Burrow Comparison
Callahan just made a bold claim. Comparing Sanders to Burrow is a conversation nobody expected, but the Titans’ head coach didn’t hesitate.
Callahan pointed out similarities in their anticipation, accuracy, and ability to throw on time — qualities that supposedly make up for questions about arm strength.
“People had questions about Burrow’s arm strength in general coming out. One of the things that makes Joe so unique, and I think you can probably put Shedeur in the same conversation.
“They anticipate when they throw it, they have the timing and accuracy on top of it. That makes up for the arm strength. If you’re throwing on time and putting a ball when and where you’re supposed to go, you’re not going to have too many problems,” he said.
But fans aren’t letting this slide.
One reaction was blunt: “No one had questions about Joe Burrow…bro stop lying…Sheuder Sanders couldn’t even dominate a watered down Big 12. Joe Burrow would have stepped on BYU.”
The argument? Burrow dominated the SEC, crushed the competition, and led LSU to a national title. Meanwhile, Sanders struggled at times in the Big 12, and critics say he hasn’t shown that same elite dominance.

Then there’s the talent comparison. One fan dismissed the hype entirely: “Shedeur Sanders is literally Kenny Pickett 2.0 coming out of college.”
If that’s the case, he’s more of a mid-tier NFL prospect than a future superstar.

Of course, some are looking ahead. Another fan connected the dots, claiming the Titans won’t even be in the Shedeur sweepstakes.
“He’s going to the Giants. He can say whatever he wants he’s either picking Cam or Travis.”
Not everyone was against the take, though. One believer fired back: “Sanders will be a great QB in the league. Save this post.”
A hot take now, but if he proves the doubters wrong, receipts will be pulled.
One thing’s for sure: this debate isn’t cooling down anytime soon.
