Quarterback Shedeur Sanders may have ended his college career on a low note, as the Colorado Buffaloes lost 36-14 to the BYU Cougars in the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 28, but his production in the 2024 campaign saw the Boulder, Colo.-based program rise to the top of the standings after it had previously been mired in the depths of the rankings.
Now, with the QB preparing for the 2025 NFL Draft, there have been many things he’s been considering, bearing in mind the big jump he will make.
Shedeur Sanders on Getting Started Before Taking the Pros
On Monday’s episode of his podcast, “2Legendary with Shedeur Sanders,” Sanders talked about where he’s currently at and how long it would take him to get where he wants to be.
“If my life was a book, what would this chapter be called?” Sanders said. “I think this is ‘Just the Foundation.’ This is the foundation, you know, this is just like a preview of almost what’s going on. Of what’s going to happen in the future.
“It’s really going to begin it, and I gotta say, I always know realistically I’m a good year and a half away from really where I wanna be just overall just in life, on the field, off the field. I do things, I think about things, and I just know I’m a good year and a half away.”

According to Pro Football Network’s latest mock draft by Dalton Miller, the quarterback was projected to be selected as the No. 1 overall pick by the New York Giants, who were picking No. 1 overall.
This disappointing season in New York has been the result of various events snowballing, and with the team benching former No. 1 pick Daniel Jones, due to his lack of production, before releasing him, the Giants have also dealt with a revolving door of players and constant injuries. However, their Week 17 win played them out of the No. 1 pick in the updated NFL draft order.
According to Miller’s analysis of Sanders: “Shedeur Sanders is the most accurate passer in the class by a fair margin. While he certainly tends to hold the ball to let plays develop in the intermediate areas of the field, he’s also shown more than enough ability to operate the quick game while also having the chutzpah to push the ball downfield, which has been sorely lacking in New York during the Daniel Jones era.”
Sanders recorded 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions this season.
