‘Legendary’ – NFL Draft Prospect Shedeur Sanders Reacts to Fans Rallying for Myles Garrett

After eight seasons with the Cleveland Browns, Myles Garrett wants out of the program. During his tenure, the Browns made the postseason only twice.

The 2023 NFL Defensive Player of the Year was drafted No. 1 overall in the 2017 NFL Draft. The defensive end has done everything the team asked, earning six Pro Bowl honors. The 29-year-old recorded his seventh straight double-digit sack season in 2024.

But Garrett wants out of Cleveland, and potential future Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders responded.

Shedeur Sanders Supports Fans Rallying Behind Myles Garrett Amid Trade Request

Garrett released a statement stating he would like to be traded from the Browns this offseason.

“As a kid dreaming of the NFL, all I focused on was the ultimate goal of winning a Super Bowl, and that goal fuels me today more than ever,” Garrett wrote. “My love for the community of Northeast Ohio and the incredible fanbase of the Cleveland Browns has made this one of the toughest decisions of my life. These past eight years have shaped me into the man that I am today.

“While I’ve loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won’t allow me to be complacent. The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton; it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl. With that in mind, I have requested to be traded from the Cleveland Browns.”

The statement is clear: Garrett aims to add a Super Bowl ring to his Hall of Fame resume, which, given the Browns’ current state, he doesn’t think he can attain with them.

Amid the trade request, Deion Sanders’ eldest son, Deion Sanders Jr., shared a video where many young fans can be seen rallying in support of Garrett’s request.

NFL projected top pick Shedeur Sanders reposted the video, calling the moment “Legendary.”

Garrett’s Trade Request Coincides With Sanders’ Draft Buzz

Amid the trade request, the Browns, who hold the No. 2 overall pick in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft, are rumored to pick either Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward.

Both quarterbacks are coming off stellar seasons and could take on the duties of starting quarterback for the team that drafts them.

Initially, many felt the New York Giants may target defensive options like Abdul Carter or Travis Hunter. However, recent rumors suggest that they are thinking of picking a quarterback as well.

Meanwhile, Garrett wants to make good on his prime years and can’t wait much longer to win the Super Bowl. The defensive end has two more years left on his current five-year, $125 million extension, which he signed with the Browns in 2020.

All this suggests a franchise-altering offseason is in store for Cleveland.
