NFL Draft Predictions: Patriots Hope To Find Solution at QB With LSU’s Jayden Daniels

    Published on

As the 2024 NFL Draft approaches, Jayden Daniels and the New England Patriots continue to be paired. Will the LSU star actually head up north?

Every year, the quarterback position is the biggest topic of conversation in the NFL Draft. This year it’s a debate about who’s the best between Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels, and J.J. McCarthy.

Daniels took the biggest jump of everyone with a Heisman Trophy season, and now he’s projected to be a top-10 pick. With so many teams needing a quarterback, some might have to trade up to get one. Daniels shouldn’t be around long, and the data from PFN’s Mock Draft Simulator shows how quickly he’ll get drafted.

New England Patriots To Draft Jayden Daniels?

New England enters a new era under Jerrod Mayo. A year in which the quarterback position was a weakness for the team, the Patriots’ faithful hope that they can find their quarterback of the future in the 2024 NFL Draft.

So far, Williams and Maye appear to be the top two quarterbacks taken consistently. Daniels sits third, currently, but there isn’t a consensus on where he’ll land. Patriots fans are taking him the most of any team that doesn’t have one of the first two picks.

The top teams selecting Daniels are as follows:

It’s easy to see why teams would be intrigued with Daniels. He found confidence in his arm this year and exploded into a first-round talent. He didn’t hesitate when making throws, and his deep ball finally shined more consistently because of it.

The Patriots have quality pass catchers in DeVante Parker, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and Hunter Henry, so the potential in the passing game is there. They just didn’t have the quarterback to get them the ball consistently.

Daniels could be the solution to their problems with a combination of his arm talent and his running ability, but he needs to be smart.

Daniels was listed at 210 pounds on LSU’s roster, but that was generous, to say the least. Taking hits with his lean frame isn’t recommended, and Daniels puts his body in dangerous situations frequently. If the Patriots are convinced that he can play smart, then he should be strongly considered. Otherwise, he might drop in the draft.
