Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart has had a strong NFL Draft season, impressing scouts at the Senior Bowl. His stock has risen significantly, and he is now widely regarded as the consensus third-best quarterback in the upcoming class. While he might not start right away, teams will see him as a long-term investment.
One NFL Draft analyst believes one team stands out as the favorite to draft Dart in April. Trevor Sikkema predicts that this team will continue their offensive overhaul by selecting Dart as their potential franchise QB. They currently don’t have a projected starter, and Dart could step into that role if they don’t acquire another veteran quarterback.

Jaxson Dart’s Next Team
Sikkema believes that the Pittsburgh Steelers are the favorite to land Dart in this year’s draft. The Steelers already made a splash by acquiring star wide receiver DK Metcalf and could continue to bolster their offense with a young quarterback.
“If they still expect both of these guys to be on the roster and co-exist together, this team now becomes the favorite to draft Jaxson Dart, in my opinion. That’s literally how Jaxson Dart won as a quarterback at Ole Miss. It was just deep shots downfield,” Sikkema said about Dart’s fit in Pittsburgh.

Dart was part of one of the most prolific offenses in college football with the Ole Miss Rebels. He threw for 4,279 yards and added 495 rushing yards, accounting for 32 total touchdowns. He also saw a significant jump in his completion percentage, improving by over 4% from his junior season to 69.3% in his final year. While he thrived on deep shots, he was also efficient on shorter throws.
With receivers like Metcalf and George Pickens, who both excel at making plays downfield, Dart could be an ideal fit for the Pittsburgh offense. Pickens and Metcalf each have 1,000-yard receiving seasons under their belts and would provide stability for Dart’s transition to the NFL.
While the Draft may result in him going elsewhere, Dart to the Steelers makes a lot of sense. Unlike aging free-agent options like Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson, Dart would be a long-term solution whose timeline aligns with Pittsburgh’s offensive core.
Dart might not find a better situation than Pittsburgh, where he could develop alongside Metcalf and Pickens. Other teams with QB needs have more offensive question marks and are more likely to draft one of the top two quarterbacks in the class. That leaves the Steelers as the likely frontrunner for Dart.
As free agency continues, the Steelers’ quarterback decision will become clearer. If Rodgers and Wilson sign elsewhere, momentum for Dart to Pittsburgh will only increase.
