While the first round might leak into early Friday morning, fans get some time to recuperate as Day 2 begins at 7 PM ET on April 29. With two rounds of 32 picks and compensatory picks to get through, teams will not have the luxury of 10 minutes to draft a player in the second and third rounds.

What positions might see a run on Day 2 of the 2022 NFL Draft?

The QB class was lightly touched after Round 1. The only first-round selection was Pitt QB Kenny Pickett. Liberty QB Malik Willis was seen as a lock to be a Day 1 pick but now finds himself still available. There were murmurs of Cincinnati QB Desmond Ridder going late in Round 1, but that didn’t come to fruition.

Ole Miss QB Matt Corral, UNC QB Sam Howell, and Nevada QB Carson Strong join Ridder, all ranked between 50 and 66 on Pro Football Network’s 2022 Consensus Big Board. The 2022 WR class is brimming with Day 2 talent, with 12 receivers rated between 32 and 100. With NFL offenses becoming an arms race, many of these Day 2 receivers should make an immediate impact like we’ve become accustomed to.

Furthermore, Day 2 is the day of the draft the running back position becomes a hot commodity. The highest-ranked RB in this year’s class is Iowa State Cyclone Breece Hall.

However, Round 2 should see Michigan State’s Kenneth Walker III and Texas A&M Aggie Isaiah Spiller come off the board. Alabama RB Brian Robinson Jr. may join them, but he’s sure to be in another decent-sized group selected in Round 3.
