Many NFL players will receive bad news next week. With training camps now over, teams are gearing up for roster cutdown, which is set for Tuesday.
Teams can cut players for many reasons, including salary concerns and in-camp performance.
With that in mind, let’s look at one potential NFL cut candidate for all 32 teams.
Potential Roster Cut Candidates for All 32 NFL Teams
Arizona Cardinals | WR Zach Pascal
Zach Pascal has enjoyed some decent production throughout his career, but his first season in Arizona was forgettable. With younger, more explosive receivers now on the roster, his days with the Cardinals might be numbered.
Atlanta Falcons | S Richie Grant
A second-round pick in 2021, Richie Grant hasn’t lived up to the hype since arriving in Atlanta. He’s firmly on the roster bubble, and cutting him would result in just an $843,000 dead cap hit. However, Grant saw a decent workload during training camp, so his roster spot might be safe.
Baltimore Ravens | WR Tylan Wallace
It’s now or never for Tylan Wallace, who was a fourth-round pick in 2021. He combined for just seven catches over his first three seasons and is a long shot to crack Baltimore’s 53-man roster.
Buffalo Bills | LB Deion Jones
Once one of the more promising linebackers in football, Deion Jones is now struggling to stand out on a defense devoid of quality linebacker depth. Jones is an intriguing player and would be a prime practice squad candidate if released.
Carolina Panthers | DT Jaden Crumedy
Rookie defensive tackle Jaden Crumedy suffered an injury during the Panthers’ preseason opener and, as a result, lost valuable time to prove deserving of a roster spot. He could be on the way out.
Chicago Bears | DE Dominique Robinson
Dominique Robinson saw his playing dip from 50% as a rookie to just 35% in 2023. He’s been buried on the depth chart this summer and looks like a long shot to stick on Chicago’s initial 53-man roster.
Cincinnati Bengals | TE Tanner Hudson
Tanner Hudson is stuck behind Mike Gesicki and Drew Sample, and the Bengals took two tight ends in the 2024 NFL Draft. The writing is on the wall for Hudson, who’s the most expendable of the group.
Cleveland Browns | WR David Bell
Releasing David Bell could be viewed as a surprise move by the Browns, but it also would make sense. The 2022 third-round pick (99th overall) has plenty of talent, but it’s translated to just 38 catches for 381 yards over two seasons.
Dallas Cowboys | TE Peyton Hendershot
Peyton Hendershot was active for all 17 games in 2022 after joining the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent. But his playing time plummeted in 2023, and the Cowboys now have better depth at tight end. He’s a clear release candidate.

Denver Broncos | RB Samaje Perine
The Broncos can save $3 million by cutting Samaje Perine, who could be expendable with Javonte Williams back from injury and looking primed for a bounce-back season. There just isn’t any room for an expensive, aging back.
Detroit Lions | OG Kayode Awosika
As a backup guard, Kayode Awosika already had to fight for his roster spot, but his job is even more on the line now that Detroit has other depth options at the position.
Green Bay Packers | K Anders Carlson
Anders Carlson is in a kicking competition with Greg Joseph. Neither has impressed, and both could be cut to make room for a last-minute veteran addition.
Houston Texans | WR Robert Woods
The Texans are loaded at receiver, and there just might not be enough room for Robert Woods. Houston would save nearly $5 million by cutting Woods, which feels like an obvious move.
Indianapolis Colts | TE Mo Alie-Cox
There are cases for and against the Colts cutting Mo Alie-Cox. He’s a big tight end who’s a solid blocker and a capable pass catcher, but he also could fall behind Jelani Woods or Drew Ogletree on the depth chart. Regardless, he’s on the bubble.
Jacksonville Jaguars | QB C.J. Beathard
C.J. Beathard was battling with Mac Jones for the No. 2 QB job in Jacksonville, but Jones has been a preseason revelation, and Beathard has battled injuries. This would be a tough move, but Jones is simply the better option.
Kansas City Chiefs | WR Kadarius Toney
Kadarius Toney has all the talent in the world, but he just can’t seem to put it all together. He hasn’t been great in training camp, and the Chiefs could move on while incurring just a $2.5 million dead cap charge.
Las Vegas Raiders | TE Harrison Bryant
The Raiders signed Harrison Bryant in free agency but then drafted Brock Bowers in the first round a year after using a second-round pick on Michael Mayer. Bryant is fighting for the third spot on the depth chart but could find himself back on the open market.
Los Angeles Chargers | LB Chris Rumph
A few years after being drafted in the fourth round, Chris Rumph might be on the chopping block. He was a non-factor over his first few seasons, and he’s behind Bud Dupree, Joey Bosa, and Khalil Mack — among others — on the depth chart. Rumph also suffered an injury earlier in camp.
Los Angeles Rams | WR Tyler Johnson
Tyler Johnson showed flashes in 2021 when he caught 36 balls for 360 yards with the Buccaneers. But he’s caught just two balls since and appeared in just one game last season for the Rams. He’s had some good moments this summer, but he’s a roster longshot.
Miami Dolphins | RB Jeff Wilson
With Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane atop Miami’s depth chart, Jeff Wilson has no clear path toward significant playing time. The Dolphins also drafted Jaylen Wright, putting Wilson’s Miami future in doubt.
Minnesota Vikings | WR/TE N’Keal Harry
An infamous draft bust, N’Keal Harry is now trying to learn tight end after failing as a receiver. He has the size to play the position but faces a steep learning curve. If Harry gets released, he could land on a practice squad to refine his tight end skills.
New England Patriots | OT Calvin Anderson
JuJu Smith-Schuster was the obvious candidate, but he was released in early August. So, the pick now is Anderson, who’s disappointed this summer after returning from a lost campaign in 2023. Anderson has battled some injuries, but he’s struggled at both tackle spots when he’s been on the field.
New Orleans Saints | DE Payton Turner
A first-round pick in 2021, Payton Turner has been fighting for his job during Saints training camp. He’s been limited to just 15 games due to various injuries and didn’t record any sacks last season. His top competitors are Isaiah Foskey, Trajan Jeffcoat, and Niko Lalos.
New York Giants | WR Allen Robinson II
Clearly on the back nine of his career, Allen Robinson II is battling for a roster spot as the Giants look to get younger and more explosive at receiver. Would the Giants rather roster Robinson or a developmental receiver with value on special teams?
New York Jets | RB Israel Abanikanda
Israel Abanikanda was a fifth-round pick in 2023 but managed just 22 carries as a rookie. He slid down the depth chart during training camp and looks like an obvious cut candidate.
Philadelphia Eagles | DB James Bradberry
James Bradberry is widely considered an Eagles cut candidate. Philly just drafted corners Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, and Isaiah Rodgers appears primed to start opposite Darius Slay. Bradberry might be squeezed out.

Pittsburgh Steelers | QB Russell Wilson
With a salary of just over $1 million, Russell Wilson arguably is more valuable to the Steelers if he stays on the roster. However, the salary also makes him easy to cut, and if Justin Fields wins the starting QB job, Pittsburgh might want to cut Wilson to avoid distractions.
Neither Wilson nor Fields has impressed during the preseason, but the Steelers might go with the younger, higher-upside option. Wilson is what he is at this point: washed up.
San Francisco 49ers | TE Cameron Latu
A third-round pick in 2023, Cameron Latu is battling for one of the Niners’ backup tight end roles. After not appearing in a regular season game in 2023 and failing to impress this summer, Latu might be on his way out.
Seattle Seahawks | WR Dee Eskridge
Dee Eskridge was a second-round pick in 2021, and he’s been a total bust. With just seven catches over his first three seasons, including zero in 2023, Eskridge needed a big camp. He didn’t deliver and now is on the roster bubble.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers | TE Ko Kieft
The Bucs drafted Ko Kieft in the sixth round in 2022, and the Minnesota product was active for 33 games over his first two seasons. But Kieft just doesn’t add much to the offense and is more of a special teamer. He could be cut.
Tennessee Titans | QB Malik Willis
What reason would there be to keep Malik Willis on the roster? Will Levis is the starter, and Mason Rudolph is the top backup. It’s time to move on and give Willis a chance to prove himself with another team.
Washington Commanders | DL Benning Potoa’e
Benning Potoa’e could be a man without a role. He’s behind starters Daron Payne and Jonathan Allen on the depth chart, and the Commanders just used a second-round pick on Jer’Zhan Newton. It’s hard to envision Potoa’e sticking around.
