The Colorado Buffaloes have emerged as a top contender this season under Deion Sanders’ tutelage. Currently 8-2 overall, they are tied with BYU for first place at 6-1 in the Big 12. The program used to lie at the bottom of the standings before Coach Prime took over and rehauled the original roster entirely.
He brought in 46 new recruits and transfers while 50 players left. With a penchant for talent, Sanders has secured the pledge of five-star quarterback Julian “Ju Ju” Lewis. The No. 2 recruit in the 2025 ESPN 300 announced his commitment on The Pat McAfee Show on Thursday (Nov. 21).
Colorado Buffaloes QB Shedeur Sanders’ Message to Julian Lewis
Shedeur Sanders is on a four-game win streak with the Buffaloes, and his value as a quarterback has been key in Colorado’s success this season. Given Sanders’ performance this campaign, it is widely expected he will be NFL-bound after the 2024 season concludes. His possible successor? The 6’0″ Lewis from Carrollton High School in Georgia.
With Lewis coming in as a quarterback to Colorado for the class of 2025, the current QB tweeted a strong one-word message for him on X:

After visiting Colorado officially in June, Lewis decommitted from USC, where he had originally committed for the class of 2026 but reclassified to the 2025 class.
His verbal pledge to Colorado is expected to turn into a signed letter of intent when the early signing period begins in December.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to get to work and compete,” Lewis said via ESPN. “Colorado wasn’t recruiting me until I reclassed, so it really was perfect timing. This is only the beginning. I trust Coach Prime and [offensive coordinator Pat] Shurmur to help me become the player that I want to be.”
Coach Prime has gained his highest-ranked pledge in Lewis after he flipped Travis Hunter from Florida State to Jackson State as the No. 2 prospect in the Class of 2022. In the post-Shedeur era, Colorado will have a QB in their midst who notched 10,054 yards, 136 touchdowns, and 669 completions on 969 attempts in his three years of high school.
