NFL-bound running back Ashton Jeanty finally revealed his favorite pro team ahead of his potential first-round selection in April's NFL Draft.

Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty seems to have spilled the beans on his preferred landing spot in the upcoming NFL Draft. The top running back of the 2025 class wants to join Jerry Jones’ Dallas Cowboys. Speaking about his NFL aspirations, Jeanty mentioned why Dallas happens to be a hotspot and what makes him a perfect weapon for head coach Mike McCarthy.

Ashton Jeanty Wants To Be a Dallas Cowboy

After finishing with a 7-10 record, Jerry Jones’ Dallas Cowboys hold the No. 12 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Given the need at running back, Dallas’ (perceived) proclivity for stars, and Jeanty’s monster season, the running back happens to be a favorite to head to Dallas.

While speaking to Pat Doney of NBC Dallas-Fort Worth on Saturday, Jeanty mentioned he wants to go to Dallas.

“I would love to play for the Cowboys,” Jeanty said. “It’d be like a dream come true. Obviously, I used to play in their practice stadium in all our home games in high school, even my freshman year. When we came down here for the first school bowl, we practiced in there again. So we just feel like I’m at home.

“Honestly, you know, I ain’t gonna say too much, but you know, Dallas, they’ve always had a good running back, and when they got a good running back they play a lot better.”

In 2024, Jeanty recorded 2,601 yards and scored 29 touchdowns while threatening all-time legend Barry Sanders’ 2,628-yard record from the 1988 season.

He came close to breaking the record in Boise State’s bowl game loss to Penn State in the second round of the College Football Playoff. He played a pivotal role in leading the Broncos to a 12-2 season and earning a first-round bye. Jeanty finished second in the Heisman voting to Colorado phenom Travis Hunter.

Boise State Coach Raved About Jeanty’s Work Ethic

It’s quite difficult for FCS schools to contend for the national championship. Broncos coach Spencer Danielson credited Jeanty’s work ethic and sheer dominance for the program’s continued success.

“He’s the guy on the blue, in the snow, with his shirt off, doing tug of war with his teammates, running all around the field. It’s how he trains, and he’s built for that. Ash will be the first to tell you it takes the offensive line, the tight ends, our receivers. It’s mandatory to block on our team,” Danielson said before the Fiesta Bowl game against Penn State, per the New York Post.

Jeanty will have a competitor in Ohio State WR Emeka Egbuka, among others, for the No. 12 pick. The Cowboys could look to strengthen the receiving corps that only features CeeDee Lamb as a top wideout. By PFN’s Offense+ metric, Dallas finished 22nd in the NFL.

Ezekiel Elliott’s departure and Rico Downdle’s looming free agency opens the door for an heir as the next star running back for America’s Team. Jeanty is clearly on board with that possibility.
