NFL Black Friday Game: Start Time, Live Stream Option, and More

The league has been airing three games on Thanksgiving since 2006; 2023 marks the first NFL Black Friday game. But why is the NFL playing on Friday? With Prime Video, Amazon’s video streaming service, serving as the host of Thursday Night Football, the streaming giant was left out of the Thanksgiving festivities.

In response, the NFL allowed Prime to air a game on Friday afternoon. The game will be free to anyone with an Amazon account, with the Dolphins and Jets game kicking off at 3 p.m. ET. Here’s how to watch the AFC East battle.

Miami Dolphins at New York Jets

    • Start time: 3 p.m. ET
    • Live stream option: Prime Video

Despite the win against the Las Vegas Raiders last week, the Dolphins are having issues on offense. A once high-octane, lethal offensive attack has only scored more than 20 points once in the previous four games. Miami is 2-2, and the defense is coming into its own, but QB Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins offense need to find that early season spark.

Getting the rushing attack going will help tremendously. Given how gaudy the early season totals were, Miami still averages 133.6 rushing yards per game this season, the best in the NFL. The Jets have allowed an average of 138.3 rushing yards per game this season, the third-worst.

The offense should have plenty of chances to score, as Vic Fangio has the Dolphins’ defense firing on all cylinders right now. The addition of CB Jalen Ramsey has been everything Dolphins fans could have hoped. The Jets offense has been a laughing stock lately, scoring on 19.2% of drive since Week 8. Miami’s defense has allowed opponents to score on just 10%.

With New York turning to Tim Boyle under center this week, Amazon’s first NFL Black Friday game could turn into a blowout. A big win from the Dolphins would give Mike McDaniel and company even more momentum for a late-season AFC playoff push.
