Aaron Rodgers was supposed to be the messiah for the New York Jets to end their 13-year playoff drought. However, after their loss against the New England Patriots, it looks like the drought will continue in New York.
On Monday, ESPN analyst Mike Greenberg took the Jets, Rodgers, and the entire front office to the cleaners. Greenberg termed the Jets’ loss against the Patriots a “colossal” error.
Aaron Rodgers Unable To Do the Job for the Jets
The Patriots came into the game on a six-game losing streak, while the Jets were on a four-game losing streak of their own. The Jets had hopes, however, against their division rivals following their 24-3 win over the Patriots in Week 3 earlier this season. Yet, New York was unable to rally after falling behind in the fourth quarter and lost 25-22.
During his opening monologue on ESPN’s “Get Up,” Greenberg did not shy away from sharing his issues with the Jets squad.

“The New York Jets of 2024 are one of the colossal failures in sports history,” said Greenberg.
“The Jets turned over their entire franchise to him (Rodgers), and it got much, much worse,” continued Greenberg. “Embarrassingly worse. What they’re doing is embarrassing to watch. I’ve been following this team 50 years. I’ve never been as embarrassed to say that I’m a fan as I have been this season, and yesterday, in particular.”
Rodgers Opens Up on the Patriots’ Loss
With their fifth loss in a row, the playoff doors in the competitive AFC are closing on Rodgers’ face. After the game, the four-time NFL MVP highlighted his mindset.
“Yeah, I’ve been in the darkness,” Rodgers said. “You’ve got to go in there, make peace with it.”
“Offensively, our goal just has to be score 30,” he continued. “Doesn’t matter what the other two sides [of the ball] are doing. We have in our defense and [special] teams, but we’re not scoring. We’re underachieving. This offense can do that every single week.”
Rodgers ended the game against the Patriots with 233 yards and two touchdowns. In Week 9, he and the Jets will face off against another AFC powerhouse, the Houston Texans, on Thursday night at home.
