‘You Do Him a Disservice’ – NFL Analyst Sends a Message to Teams for Two-Way Star Travis Hunter’s NFL Position Decision

One former NFL linebacker offers his advice to Travis Hunter on playing two positions in the NFL.

Colorado star Travis Hunter has been hailed as one of the best and most hyped-up players in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The potential No. 1 overall pick is especially known for his exceptional capabilities on both sides of the ball, as a cornerback and wide receiver.

However, while Deion Sanders has made it clear that he wants Hunter to play both positions, many analysts don’t believe it’s a good move for the young standout.

NFL Analyst Talks About Travis Hunter’s Position Dilemma in the NFL

Former NFL linebacker turned analyst LaVar Arrington spoke about how Hunter and NFL teams should approach Hunter’s versatility.

Arrington shared that Hunter wouldn’t be able to perform as he did in college if he decides to be a two-way player in the league.

The former linebacker suggested that Hunter’s situation would only work out if Deion Sanders decided to join the NFL and coach the Colorado star.

Arrington also shared that it would be the worst thing for Hunter if he decides to play both positions and not settle for one, which is essential for his success in the league.

He also shared that he can be used on both sides of the ball if needed, but it would be the best if that’s not a permanent arrangement, and any NFL team that would allow him to play both positions will be doing a disservice to the Colorado star.

“It would take Deion Sanders coaching at the pro level for him to be a true two-way player to get that opportunity. That’s just not how it works. So, the worst thing that could happen to a Travis Hunter is that he does not settle into his home position. You can use him on the other side of the ball, but if you try to muddy those waters, I just don’t think that that’s good for his opportunities and development to have true success at the next level.”

Arrington also compared Hunter to Devin Hester, who could play any position at his time. However, he thinks that despite being a Hall of Famer, he could’ve made a larger impact if he had stuck to one position.

“Devin Hester could have played pretty much any position, skill-wise, on the football field, and ultimately, if you ask me, he was so extraordinary as an athlete and a player that he got into the Hall of Fame. But it really kind of, in a way, did not allow for him to have the type of impact that he really could have had if he had just had a position.”

The 2025 NFL Draft is set to start April 24 in Green Bay, Wis.
