‘It’s the Only Way’ – NFL Analyst Reveals What Led to the Kansas City Chiefs’ Two Super Bowl Losses

NFL analyst Mike Florio reveals the only way teams can beat the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl while appearing on the "Rich Eisen Show."

NBC Sports NFL analyst Mike Florio outlined the only way to beat the Kansas City Chiefs in a Super Bowl: “knock them down early” and keep the game out of reach.

While appearing on the popular “Rich Eisen Show,” Florio explained to Eisen that if the game were within reach or close, the Chiefs would unquestionably win.

He outlined how the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Philadelphia Eagles, the two teams who dominated the Chiefs in the Super Bowl over the years, did not allow the game to get within reach in either contest.

What Did Mike Florio Say About the Kansas City Chiefs?

The full-length video was uploaded to the social media platform YouTube.

“It really was dominant. And, it is the only way you are going to beat the Chiefs. They have lost two Super Bowls and they were blown out in both of them. If it is a close game, the Chiefs are going to win. The only way to beat them is knock them down early, and put your foot on their throat and keep it there.

“I’m surprised the Eagles let up at all, and I think the Chiefs were determined to not have a score that went down in the record books… the two garbage time touchdowns made it look somewhat respectable. Pay no attention to 40 to 22, that was 40 to 6 until the Eagles called off the dogs,” Florio stated.

Despite winning three Super Bowl’s since Patrick Mahomes became the quarterback of the franchise, the Chiefs have also lost two championship games in ugly fashion.

As previously alluded to, the Eagles dominated the Chiefs and won Super Bowl 59 by a score of 40-22. However, that 18 point deficit is quite deceiving as at one point, the Eagles were leading by a score of 34-0 in the third quarter. Furthermore, the Chiefs had only one first down in the entire first half of play.

In their other championship game loss, that time against the Tom Brady led Buccaneers, the Chiefs lost 31-9 in Super Bowl 55. At half time in that contest, the Bucs were leading by a score of 21-6 with the game never really feeling in doubt for Brady and Tampa.

As is evident, Florio’s belief does seem to have some merit. While easier said than done, in both losses, the team that defeated the Chiefs got to an early lead and did not take their foot off the pressure until the game was out of reach.
