NFL Analyst Says Shedeur Sanders Is Better QB Than Cam Ward

NFL analyst Dalton Wasserman believes that Sanders is slightly the better quarterback. Wasserman said, “Shedeur is QB1 for me, I love the way he can function in the pocket. I love the way he reads defenses. He’s very very accurate. He wants to play on time. I know there are times he holds the ball too long and you know he did, he took too many sacks at Colorado, but they also asked him to carry the offense in a way that almost nobody else could.”

The analyst noted that Colorado couldn’t run the ball well at times, and the offensive line didn’t always protect Sanders. He also stated that the defense was inconsistent and that Sanders had to act as the playmaker, making good decisions under pressure.

“I love his demeanor, I love the way he reads defenses,” Wasserman further said. “I think Shedeur or Cam for that matter, I think the race is very close between the two of them. For QB1 if you have Cam, I’m not gonna argue with you. I have Shedeur, a little bit ahead of him because I think he’s got such a high floor and he’s accurate, and I love his ability to process.”

Wasserman then turned to the New York Giants and discussed how the pairing of their wide receiver Malik Nabers with Sanders would be a good fit.

“Jon Mara’s out of patience, he said as much. Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen  have the jobs on the line. You have Malik Nabers, Daboll is still a good play caller despite everything else going on around him.

“They can find a way to get Shedeur in there with Nabers and any way to protect him at all because the offensive line is the other big problem here. I think you have to take a quarterback here and if it’s Shedeur then that’s what it is.”

Sanders threw for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns on a 74% completion rate. Meanwhile, Ward, who transferred to Miami from Washington State for his last college season, threw for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns on 67.2% completion rate.

Pro Football Network’s latest 7-round mock draft by Jacob Infante projects Sanders going to the Las Vegas Raiders as the No. 6 overall prospect, whereas Ward is projected to be selected at No. 3 by the New York Giants.
