‘I Don’t Ask for Much’ — NFL Analyst Makes Desperate Plea to Jerry Jones for Cowboys-Giants on Thanksgiving Amid Daniel Jones’ Release

    Published on

Could Daniel Jones end up on a rival team for a Thanksgiving bout? One NFL analyst made the plea for this far-fetched theory to come to fruition.

Daniel Jones stepped out of the New York Giants base and into uncertainty with his release on Nov. 22. He is now a free agent, and one analyst made a tongue-in-cheek appeal to Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, stirring the conversation about his future landing spot.

NFL Reporter Ian Rapoport revealed the report of Jones’ release in a tweet, where he wrote, “Giants QB Daniel Jones, benched as the starter, has requested his release. The team is expected to grant it. That would mean Jones would go through waivers, which he’s likely to clear because of his contract. At that point, he’d be a free agent.”

The message was retweeted by an NFL analyst who added his own desperate request for Jones.

NFL Analyst Suggests Jerry Jones to Grab Daniel Jones for the Dallas Cowboys

Though his five-year stint with the Giants had its moments — most notably, his playoff run in 2022 — Jones’ tenure was hampered by frequent injuries and a reputation as more of a game manager than a playmaker. However, for analyst Benjamin Solak, Jones’ entry into the Cowboys pack makes sense, especially as Dak Prescott is dealing with his injury.

In his retweet, the NFL analyst pleaded to the universe: “I don’t ask for much, universe. But this one is a big one. Cowboys QB Daniel Jones v. the Giants on Thanksgiving. PLEASE.”

The playful plea has fans imagining an improbable twist where Jones, recently benched by the Giants, would somehow end up under center for their rivals, the Cowboys, in a Thanksgiving showdown against his former team.

While Jones’ release is fresh, NFL fans are buzzing about where he might land and who could take advantage of his experience playing in high-stakes NFC East matchups.

His record over the last two seasons, featuring just 10 touchdowns against 13 interceptions and a 76.6 passer rating, only amplified the questions surrounding his long-term value as a franchise quarterback. However, despite his struggles, Jones remains respected in New York.

Giants president John Mara praised him in a statement, calling him a “first-class” representative of the organization, even as the team parts ways with their former first-round pick.

With Jones now subject to waivers, any team willing to pick up his hefty contract could take him on. However, if he clears waivers, he’ll be a free agent, allowing teams to negotiate a potentially more favorable deal. Many see a silver lining for Jones, noting that a fresh start could be just what he needs to revitalize his career. Whether he ends up on a rival team or not, Jones’ release has the NFL world eagerly watching to see where he lands next.
