NFL Analyst Believes Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones Will Pitch Reality Show If Deion Sanders Is Head Coach

NFL Network’s Jane Slater has the inside scoop on owner/general manager Jerry Jones’ mission to secure the services of Deion Sanders to be the 10th head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. This is a Jones special, and he is undertaking the endeavor by himself. You could say he is flying without a parachute.

Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones Could Consider Reality Show If Coach Prime Joins as Head Coach

Jones, 82, the owner of the Cowboys since 1989, is really pushing hard for Sanders to become Dallas’ next head coach. He’s flying solo, though, and is not letting anyone else in on the phone calls.

On Tuesday, Slater said on social media that Jones is conducting the search on his own and is doing everything himself.

“It sounds like Jerry has been on a bit of a solo mission,” Slater said. “He is picking up the phone. He is making calls.”

Slater went on to state that Jones has spoken with Sanders and has not called other candidates, such as Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, Washington Commanders OC Kliff Kingsbury, or other coaches with Texas ties, who would be considered hot candidates.

“It’s my understanding that he has not yet called Kellen Moore. He has not yet called Kliff Kingsbury. He’s not yet called [Steve] Sarkisian down at the University of Texas,” Slater said.

Slater also said Sanders might be hedging his bets with Jones and using it as leverage to get more money from the University of Colorado. He is two years deep into a five-year contract he signed when he left Jackson State.

“He signed a five-year deal, he’s two years into it. There’s been some talk that there’s potentially been an extension on the table… So is Deion leaving this leverage to get paid a little bit more and stay in Colorado?”

Slater also posted that Jones might be interested in pitching a reality show to Netflix in the event Sanders were to come aboard.

Fox Sports college football analyst Joel Klatt, who used to play quarterback for the University of Colorado, maintains significant ties to the school. He reported last week Sanders has an extension from Colorado on the table, and that it has gone unsigned. Thus, he might be using Jones as leverage to get a more significant offer from the school.

Jones could outbid Colorado for Sanders’ services, though. The school runs on a budget, and Jones doesn’t know what a budget is. He also doesn’t like to lose and won’t accept being bluffed.

Could Jones go all-in just to make sure he wins and gets what he wants?
