‘Is the Way To Do It’ – NFL Analyst Backs Travis Hunter’s Decision To Join the Combine As Cornerback

One NFL Analyst laid out a detailed plan for Travis Hunter to play on both sides of the ball in the NFL and maximize his unique talent.

Deion Sanders has made it clear that he wants to see Travis Hunter continue playing the way he did in college under him. He even advised the NFL teams not to pick him if they’re not ready to give him the opportunity to play on both sides of the ball.

The Colorado star, who plays both cornerback and wide receiver, is set to participate in the 2025 NFL Combine as a cornerback, which surprised many people.

However, while many fans were surprised to see him choose CB, NFL analyst Mike Golic believes Hunter made the right decision.

NFL Analyst Weighs In on Travis Hunter’s Decision To Participate as a CB in the 2025 NFL Combine

During the latest edition of their podcast, “GoJoandGolic,” Mike Golic Jr. and Mike Golic discuss Travis Hunter’s decision to play cornerback in the 2025 NFL combine.

Mike Golic believes the Colorado star would want to play in the NFL both ways. However, he believes picking the defensive side of the ball is the right decision for him.

The NFL analyst highlighted that if he gets picked for the defensive side of the ball, he can also play the offensive side sometimes. However, it won’t be the same as it was at Colorado, as he can’t play 120 plays a game in the league.

Mike Golic believes that Hunter should focus on the defensive side of the ball, despite wide receivers like Justin Jefferson earning contracts worth $140 million.

“Yeah. I mean, I think he wants to go both ways in the NFL, and to go in at the defensive side of the ball is the way to do it. Now, whether he gets drafted as a shutdown corner right away, or is he at the slot corner? I don’t know. We’ll have to, obviously, wait and see, but at least on the defensive side of the ball, then you can go and you can live on the offensive side of the ball. It won’t be at the rate it was in Colorado. He’s not playing 120 plays a game in the NFL.”

“He just, you just physically as much as and I don’t even know if he believes he could do that, but I’m sure he has the confidence level to think he can, but it’s not going to happen. You’re not going to play 120 plays in the NFL, but to go both ways, you have to, I think you have to major on the defensive side of the ball, whether, again, that’s a shutdown corner, a slot corner or whatever, and then you can go and you can sprinkle in on the offensive side of the ball.”

According to PFSN’s latest NFL mock draft, Travis Hunter is projected to be the No. 2 overall pick and spend his first season with the Cleveland Browns.
