The NFL offseason is officially under way, and with that comes bold predictions from fans and media members alike. The New York Jets had a tough 2024 season finishing 5-12 and firing its head coach and GM along the way. The Aaron Rodgers experiment crashed and burned and the team has to start from scratch once again.
Jetswire reporter Craig Moffett recently put out his predictions for the Jets’ offseason, and included trading one of the team’s young offensive stars.

Jets Predicted To Trade RB Breece Hall
New York selected Hall early in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, and he made an immediate impact in an injury-shortened rookie season. Hall rushed for 463 yards and four touchdowns in seven games that season before tearing his ACL. He added 19 receptions, 218 yards, and a receiving score, so Gang Green was excited about the young running back’s future.
Hall was healthy for Week 1 in 2023 and gained 127 yards in the season opener. His sophomore season was a struggle, but Hall ended with 994 yards and five rushing touchdowns while adding 76 receptions, 591 receiving yards, and four scores through the air.
Unfortunately, the second year momentum didn’t carry over to 2024. Hall was still a dual threat out of the backfield, but dealt with a knee injury that limited how explosive he was. He ultimately finished with 873 rushing yards and five touchdowns on the ground and 57 receptions, 483 receiving yards, and three receiving scores.
The numbers weren’t awful but in his recent article, Moffett believes Hall could be on the move, “Breece Hall will be traded. The Jets will have some tough decisions to make soon as Sauce Gardner, Garrett Wilson, Jermaine Johnson and [Breece] Hall are all due for new contracts.
“While it’s been great watching them all wear the green and white every Sunday, you knew the bill would eventually be due and it was always going to be difficult to pay all four players.”
Hall is currently the 30th-highest paid running back and is entering the final year of his rookie contract. However, the other three players Moffett mentions are at premium positions that command big money. The NFL has trended to de-valuing running backs, and it’s hard to make a strong case for Hall, who’s had a major knee injury and has yet to eclipse 1,000 yards on the ground.
Moffett continued, “Hall seems like the odd man out, especially after the Jets drafted Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis last year. While one can argue Hall should have been more involved in the offense, he only had 14 less carries in 2024 compared to 2023 and lacked that explosiveness we’ve come to love about his running style.
“His value may never be higher in a potential trade, especially with Saquon Barkley and Derrick Henry making the position important again.”
Barkley and Henry brought the position back to prominence in 2024 with each player signing multi-year deals last offseason. Hall hasn’t been as productive as those two, and his injury history will likely keep his trade value low. He’s a good player, but they have two rookies eager to prove themselves behind him, so the writing could be on the wall for Hall in New York.
