The New York Jets were a mess in 2024, earning the seventh overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft after finishing 5-12. They fired head coach Robert Saleh after Week 5 and general manager Joe Douglas in mid-November, and the Aaron Rodgers experiment was a colossal failure.
New York will likely miss out on the top quarterback prospects at No. 7, but it has other offensive needs to address. PFSN’s latest mock draft has the Jets selecting a dynamic playmaker who’s been compared to Brock Bowers.

Jets Predicted to Select Penn State Tight End at No. 7
The Jets’ offense finished No. 19 in PFSN’s Offense+ metric for the 2024 season with the shell of Rodgers at the helm. The four-time MVP threw for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions last season, eclipsing 300 yards in a game once and throwing for under 200 yards six times. The team will release Rodgers with a post-June 1 designation at the start of the new year.
Davante Adams was acquired in a midseason trade and became the team’s most potent weapon in his 11 games as a Jet. He posted 854 yards and seven touchdowns and will follow Rodgers into free agency, as the team recently announced they will release the veteran receiver. Adams will account for $8.3 million in dead money for New York next season, with Rodgers accounting for $49 million.
These decisions signal another reset for the Jets, with new GM Darren Mougey prepared to mold the team into what he wants. So, where will he go in his first draft? PFSN’s Brentley Weissman predicts Mougey will stay at No. 7 and select Penn State’s Tyler Warren.
He wrote, “I had this player/team pairing in my first mock and see no reason to move off of it now. Tyler Warren is a top-five prospect for me and is just too talented for the New York Jets to pass up. The team needs more offensive weapons, and adding Warren, a do-it-all tight end, makes a ton of sense. Look for Warren to quickly emerge as the team’s second-leading receiver behind Garrett Wilson.”
Warren could be exactly what the Jets need at tight end. At the 2025 Scouting Combine, he measured 6’5 1/2″, 256 pounds and is one of the most versatile players in the 2025 Draft.
He exploded in 2024 with 104 receptions, 1,233 yards, and 8 receiving touchdowns. He became the focal point of Penn State’s offense, leading them to the College Football Playoff Semifinal, and comparing him to Bowers makes sense.
Bowers had a historic first season, setting the rookie receptions record with 112, 1,194 yards, and five touchdowns. He led all tight ends in receptions and yards. If Warren is half the player Bowers is, the Jets will have found a long-term weapon to fuel their latest rebuild.
