With training camp approaching, so is “Hard Knocks.”
This season’s first edition will be the first-ever offseason version, “Hard Knocks: Offseason,” and the featured team will be the New York Giants.
Ahead of its July premiere, HBO released a trailer for what will be seen.
Top Giants Storylines Entering ‘Hard Knocks: Offseason’
The 2024 offseason was busy for the Giants, who lost and acquired a lot of talent. As a result, the show will have many storylines that were hinted at in the trailer.

Arguably, the biggest storyline is the loss of star running back Saquon Barkley, who left the Giants to join the rival Philadelphia Eagles.
Barkley ended his six-year Giants career fourth in franchise rushing yards (5,211), fourth in attempts (1,201), and sixth in touchdowns (35), and “Hard Knocks” will give us a chance to see how hard the Giants tried to bring him back and what really happened.
The next storyline is the drafting of receiver Malik Nabers, who was taken sixth overall in the 2024 NFL Draft. With “Hard Knocks” following the entire Giants’ offseason, we’ll be able to see what went into their evaluations of Nabers, why they selected him, and much more.
Then, there’s the trade for edge rusher Brian Burns. With the Giants in need of an EDGE, they went ahead and sent a second-round pick and swapped fifths with the Carolina Panthers in exchange for Burns, who brings 46 career sacks with him. They also gave him a five-year, $141 million extension.
In “Hard Knocks,” we should get a behind-the-scenes look at the negotiations that took place to bring the star edge rusher to New York as well as the massive contract extension he signed as part of the move.

Finally, there’s quarterback Daniel Jones’ recovery from his season-ending torn ACL injury in 2023. In the trailer, they give you a sneak peek at Jones’ rehab as he figures to be the starting quarterback for the Giants once again this season.
Despite assurances that Jones will be the starter, there was speculation throughout the offseason that the Giants would look to replace him. However, their only addition at quarterback was Drew Lock, who was signed to be the backup. In “Hard Knocks,” we’ll find out whether the Giants actually considered bringing in a new franchise quarterback.

Which Teams Are Featured in the Other Editions of ‘Hard Knocks’ This Season?
For the classic training camp edition of “Hard Knocks,” the Chicago Bears and Caleb Williams will be the center of attention.
Fans will get a firsthand look at the development of the first-overall pick, as well as all of the weapons and additions the Bears have made around him, including Keenan Allen, D’Andre Swift, Rome Odunze, and more.
For the in-season edition, an entire division will be featured. The AFC North was the pick, with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, and Cleveland Browns sharing the spotlight.

Fans will get to see how four different division foes run their franchises during the season, handle adversity and losses, and ultimately win.
As the AFC North is the NFL’s most competitive division, all four teams will be vying for playoff spots and the AFC North title. One of these teams may even head to Super Bowl 59.
Both series will be five-episode installments, the same as the Giants’ offseason edition.
