The All-Star weekend taking place in the Bay Area meant that the master of ceremonies would unofficially be 2025 All-Star starter Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors. The weekend was centered around Curry and his impact on the game and what he meant to San Francisco and Oakland, Calif.

As the weekend progressed, most of the superstars present at All-Star weekend said positive things about Curry, his impact on basketball, and how he has motivated many of them.

Some of the players even sought him out for advice during All-Star practice or in between games. One player, Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves, decided to keep things fun with Curry, as he issued a challenge before the 2025 NBA All-Star Game.

Anthony Edwards and Stephen Curry Have Quick Half-Court Shootout

Edwards made the challenge to Curry, showcasing his competitive fire despite him sitting out the All-Star Game due to injury. The challenge would not last very long, as Curry drained two half-court shots, causing Edwards to retreat.

Both Curry and Edwards won a gold medal together during the 2024 Summer Olympics, which explains their playful bond with the half-court shootout. Though it did not end well for Edwards, he seemed to take it in stride.

Edwards, who is currently averaging 27.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game on 44% from the field, always seems willing to challenge Curry when they are on the same court, even if he ends up on the losing end.

Curry, who is currently averaging 23.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game on 43% from the field, has embraced a lot of the younger players, which explains why he seems to get along so well with Edwards and many of the other up-and-coming stars of tomorrow.

Curry Wins All-Star MVP Award Amid New Format Criticism

After winning the playful half-court shooting contest, Curry continued his hot hand into the actual All-Star Game, walking away with the NBA All-Star Game Kobe Bryant Most Valuable Player award, as he led Shaq’s OGs to a 41-25 victory over Chuck’s Global Stars with 12 points.

It was a fitting end to the Bay Area All-Star weekend, as Curry remained the focal point throughout. There was a bit of criticism sent the NBA’s way due to the All-Star Game being slightly drowned out by the other festivities, which was a fair assessment.

The unnecessary Kevin Hart banter, the constant stops between games and possessions, as well as only 33 minutes of basketball being played left fans a little confused at the new format and how it was executed.

The NBA will likely revisit the format and tweak it since the fans have been outspoken, but there is time before those changes will be set. Still, it was a successful weekend, all things considered, for the NBA and Curry.
