Stephen Curry has been cooking defenders for 16 seasons, but even the greatest shooter of all time knows the clock is ticking.
With rumors swirling about how much longer he’ll lace up for the Golden State Warriors, Curry finally gave his most honest take yet. And by the sound of it, he’s keeping things open-ended.
Stephen Curry Gets Real About His NBA Future
For years, Curry has dodged the big question: When will he call it quits? But during a candid chat on 95.7 The Game’s “Steiny & Guru,” the Warriors superstar admitted he doesn’t have a set timeline.
“I’ve tried to answer that question before, and I’ve said a lot of different things just based on how I feel that day,” he said.
One thing is clear—he’s not sticking around just to chase numbers. He made it clear that as long as he can dominate a game and play at his usual high level for 30-plus minutes, he’ll keep going. But he evaluates that year by year.
Curry is under contract with Golden State through the 2026-27 season, but he left the door open for an extended run. “I know my contract is lined up and I’d like to outplay that, for sure. But how long that goes? I have no idea.”

The scary part for the rest of the league? He’s still playing at an MVP level.
Curry Is Leveling Up This Season
If anyone thought time was catching up to Curry, they weren’t watching what happened after the Warriors landed Jimmy Butler at the trade deadline.
Since Butler arrived, Curry has taken his game to another level, averaging 30.4 points, 6 assists, and 4.3 rebounds over his last 15 games.
Golden State was clinging to the No. 10 seed before the trade, but thanks to Curry’s brilliance, they’ve climbed to No. 6 in the West. He’s still putting defenders in a blender, still launching deep threes like they’re free throws, and still proving why he’s one of the greatest to ever touch the court.
But don’t get it twisted—Curry isn’t just playing to prove a point. He’s locked in on one goal: a fifth ring.
With the Warriors heating up at the right time, he believes they can get there, but he’s not looking too far ahead.
One thing’s for sure—Curry isn’t walking away until he’s ready. And judging by the way he’s torching defenses night after night, that moment still feels a long way off.
