Draymond Green has newfound confidence in the Golden State Warriors after they traded for Jimmy Butler III. With the season going down the tubes, Butler was their midseason swing for the fences, and Green believes it’ll be a home run.
Green is so confident in how the Warriors will do with Butler that he made a bold proclamation during All-Star weekend.
Draymond Green Believes Warriors Will Win the Title With Jimmy Butler III
On TNT’s broadcast of the 2025 NBA All-Star Game, Green talked about how much has changed for the Warriors since they acquired Butler, which is why he believes the sky is the limit for Golden State.
“I think we were kind of headed in the wrong direction, thinking we were figuring it out and never figuring it out throughout the course of this year. Since [Butler]’s been here, we’ve walked into every game thinking or believing that we were gonna win that game,” Green said.
“That goes a long way in this league. When you walk into a game like, ‘Ah, man. We’re probably going to lose this game,’ it’s not good, so he’s brought back that belief, and I think we’re going to win a championship.”
Green then corrected himself when his fellow broadcasters wanted him to repeat his statement.
“I’m sorry. I said I think we’re going to win a championship, but I lied. We are going to win the championship.”

This is a pretty bold statement by Green, and the Warriors have a lot of ground to make up with only two months left until the regular season ends (28-27 at the All-Star break, 10th in the Western Conference). However, their track record and Butler’s speak for themselves.
When the Warriors have had enough talent on the team, they’ve risen to the occasion. It is true that this season was not going as well as they would have liked, but Butler has changed their fortunes drastically by himself.
He is the best player Green and Stephen Curry have played beside in Golden State since Kevin Durant. While he hasn’t won a title like his new teammates, he has been the best player on multiple teams that reached the final stage. This partnership could benefit both sides greatly from playing with each other.
On the Warriors, Butler fills many holes because of his skill as a half-court shot-creator and his gravity as a scorer. He’s also a two-way wing who has helped his team find success as the No. 1 guy. In Golden State, he’s the No. 2, and that might be bad news for the rest of the league.
