The Los Angeles Lakers acquiring Luka Dončić in one of the craziest blockbuster trades in history has sent the NBA into a frenzy. Executives have been in shock, and even Dončić was left reportedly stunned by the trade. The next day, the Sacramento Kings made a huge trade by trading away point guard De’Aaron Fox and landing guard Zach LaVine.
Teams are making moves, and the Golden State Warriors are looking to be the next team to make a splash. The Warriors’ window is closing rapidly as Stephen Curry starts getting older. They have a few years left before the Curry era in Golden State comes to a close. But the team they have is struggling mightily, and now, they are exploring any option to pair him with another star.
Golden State Warriors Are Targeting Multiple Superstars
Currently, Golden State sits with a 24-24 record and 11th place in the Western Conference — out of the playoffs and the play-in entirely.
Pairing another superstar next to Curry is now of utmost importance, with the Western Conference continuing to improve and the Warriors on the outside looking in.

"The Warriors are legitimately calling about every all star player. They are dead set on trying to find another superstar player with Steph Curry.”

Let’s compile all of the recent rumors to figure out which big-name players Golden State is pursuing.
LeBron James
Well, the Warriors are shooting for the stars with their targets. Golden State has even called the Lakers about a potential LeBron James trade!
James, the NBA’s all-time scoring leader, however, has shown no indication that he will waive his no-trade clause. The Lakers haven’t said they are looking to trade him, and they just landed Dončić. With James’ son, Bronny James, also on the team, it would be unlikely the Warriors would land LeBron.
Still, there is one person who could potentially change James’ mind — and it’s none other than Curry.

James and Curry have long been admirers of each other’s game, which is no surprise since they are some of the best to ever take the court. They have always shared a desire to play together if ever possible, so maybe James would be willing to give it a try.
By waiving his no-trade clause, James would leave LA with a chance to build for the future by recouping assets for the franchise with Dončić as the main man. James would be getting to play with an all-time great in Curry and still be able to compete at the highest level for a championship.
Kevin Durant
The Warriors aren’t limiting their search to just James. Almost any all-star is being inquired about. And Golden State is not afraid to go backward in order to move forward by attempting to bring Kevin Durant back to the Bay.

The Phoenix Suns haven’t had a great season and sit eighth in the West at 25-23. While only one game above the Warriors, the Suns might look to recoup assets they traded for Durant and Bradley Beal. Devin Booker is only 28 years old, and moving on from Durant to commit to surrounding the former with elite talent and younger pieces could be the direction the Suns take.
Phoenix is still in the thick of the playoff race and should at least make the play-in tournamnet. Yet, cashing in on Durant’s value could be the route the Suns take.
A Durant trade to Golden State is realistically more likely to happen than James since the former doesn’t have a full no-trade clause. Curry and Durant won two championships together in Golden State and would be must-watch television once again as potential contenders.
Paul George
The Warriors are leaving no stone unturned and inquired about the availability of Paul George. In a down year by George’s standards, Golden State might be able to pry him away from a struggling Philadelphia 76ers squad.
George recently left California in free agency, but he may be heading back. He signed this offseason with the 76ers to play with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. However, Philadelphia’s season hasn’t gone to plan.
Embiid has only appeared in 13 games this season while missing 35 games. The Sixers sit at 19-29 in 11th place in the East. Rookie Jared McCain was a bright spot, but he tore his meniscus and is likely out for the season.
The 76ers don’t have too much going for them this season, and in hindsight, neither do the Warriors. Yet, a deal involving George might be best for both squads. This might be the most feasible deal as George’s price won’t be nearly as much as Durant’s, and he also doesn’t have a no-trade clause.
It will be interesting to see how the Warriors approach these targets, as finding Curry a new running mate is paramount. All three names have been floated around, but the Warriors are searching for an answer to improve their roster and maximize the time left with Curry.
Dream Big Golden State
Any of the mentioned three would help Golden State, but the Warriors’ front office is looking to pull off one of the greatest trades in NBA history. They are hoping for a way to be able to pair Curry with both Durant and James.
This would undoubtedly be one of the greatest trios to ever play together. If the Dončić trade shook the NBA, it cannot be put into words what the reaction would be if Golden State pulled this off.
Several people within the Warriors’ front office have dreams of LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Stephen Curry all teaming up together on the Golden State Warriors, per @JakeLFischer

If an executive was asked 10 years ago about the possibility of Durant, Curry, and James being on the same team, they would probably laugh. This situation is a dream for the Warriors and likely not to happen, but one can dream.
They are three of the best scorers that this game has ever seen. If Durant, Curry, and James shared the court for a full season, it’s hard to imagine what they could do. A sneak peek was offered during the Olympics, where the United States took home the gold thanks to an unreal closing stretch from Curry.
This dream scenario would be box office television. All NBA fans would be glued to Warriors games every single night to watch this all-time trio share the court before they all retire. Golden State would become instant title contenders overnight.
Keep dreaming, Warriors fans; this might just happen. If the Dončić trade happened, anything can.
