NBA All-Star Tyler Herro Reveals Bold Goals for Miami Heat After Jimmy Butler III Trade

Tyler Herro was the only player representing the Miami Heat during All-Star Weekend. Additionally, with Jimmy Butler III now with the Golden State Warriors, Herro is his team’s top offensive option.

Herro believes that going forward, more of his teammates will be by his side in future All-Star Games.

Tyler Herro Believes the Heat Will Rise Again for One Reason

The Heat no longer have Butler, quite the adjustment after he helped them make NBA Finals appearances in 2020 and 2023. However, Herro believes that the team can still be among the best in the Eastern Conference in the near future.

In an interview with Basketball Insiders’ DJ Siddiqi, Herro discussed his belief that the Heat can rise to the top of the East again, much of it due to the young talent they’re currently developing.

“I saw the Cavs had a couple guys in there, like two or three players. Next year and going forward, we’re gonna try to be at the top of the East so that we can get a couple more guys in besides myself, Bam (Adebayo), Ke’el (Ware), Jaime (Jacquez), Nikola (Jovic), young guys ready to continue to get better,” Herro said.

Herro’s expectations are high to the point one could argue that they are grandiose, given the current state of the team. However, Herro has earned the right to believe in his teammates, considering he’s largely gotten to where he is because of self-confidence.

From early in his career, Herro proved he could put the ball in the basket, and his confidence has only grown from there. While Herro was already a proven commodity coming into the season, he still surprised by earning All-Star honors in largely unequivocable fashion.

If Herro believes his teammates could follow his path, and in turn, vault the Heat back to the upper echelon of the NBA, then the sharpshooting guard’s prediction gains credibility.

It helps that Miami is a very appealing team because of the city’s climate, the Heat’s history with acquiring stars either via trade or free agency, and the presence of one of the NBA’s best coaches, Erik Spoelstra.

The Heat could certainly turn to their youth to remain in playoff contention, but don’t be surprised if they eventually add a star to the mix to get them back to the level they’re ultimately striving for.
