Trae Young has had a storied career with the Atlanta Hawks since joining the team in 2018. However, his journey with his wife, Shelby Miller, is just as special. The couple met a year before Young was drafted into the NBA and are now parents to two children.

Miller was born to Mike and Sherri Miller on Oct. 25, 1995. She attended the University of Oklahoma, where she met Young. She studied communication and media and cheered for the Oklahoma Sooners’ basketball team, Young’s squad.
Miller, now a mother of two, enjoys a significant social media following with over 46,000 followers on Instagram. She is a regular at Hawks games and has been “a pretty big fan” of Young since announcing her relationship in October 2017.

Young and Miller are college sweethearts and started dating during the former’s second year in Oklahoma. They got engaged in late 2021, with Young announcing in December that he had proposed in front of a balloon arch and a sign reading, “Marry Me.”
Despite four years of dating, the now-four-time NBA All-Star was nervous before proposing.
“I knew what she would say, obviously, but it was a nervous moment,” he admitted to the New York Post.
Young also revealed that he had let Miller do the wedding planning, but they welcomed their son, Tydus Reign Young, before saying their “I dos.” Their eldest was born in June 2022 and is often seen with Miller at Hawks games.
The couple exchanged vows a year later in July 2023 a romantic ceremony at the Ocean Club on Parade Island in the Bahamas. The couple walked down the aisle with their son Tydus and danced away the night with a performance by rapper Quavo, who is from Atlanta where Trae plays.

The couple welcomed their second child, daughter Teal Dove Young, in November 2023.
“Mama brought you into this world ! Now Tydus & Dada are gonna forever protect you in this world. Teal Dove Young,” Trae wrote on Instagram her arrival.
The Hawks star has described being a father as the biggest blessing. “Ain’t nothing like being a dad, bro,” he once said in a video announcement.
Meanwhile, Miller is equally appreciative of Young’s role as a father and claimed at last year’s Father’s Day that his dedication humbled her.
“Happy Father’s Day to our Dada! He is our protector, our love and our balance. Witnessing the fierce love you pour into Tydus and Teal every single day even when you are away is so pure. Your love and dedication as a father makes our family stronger. I love you and humbled to watch you in this role of life!,” she wrote on Instagram.
The superstar guard’s healthy family life is contributing to his success on the court as he averages 24.0 points and 11.5 assists per game this season, with the Hawks holding the No. 7 seed (32-24) in the Eastern Conference playoff race.
