‘Steph Curry Day Is Feb. 27’ — NBA Fans React to Warriors Star Constantly Going Off On This Date

A 24-year-old, 6’2″ point guard with ankle issues walked into the Mecca of basketball, Madison Square Garden, trying to cement himself on a blockbuster stage. A 27-year-old superstar walked into his conference’s biggest rival’s home and cemented a unanimous MVP campaign with one of the greatest game-winners in NBA history. A 36-year-old legend of the game exploded for a euphoria-inducing 56 points against the Orlando Magic.

All three events happened on Feb. 27. All three events came courtesy of Wardell Stephen Curry.

Fans Euphoric After Steph Curry Has Yet Another Feb. 27 Masterclass

Since that fateful 2013 season, Curry’s numbers have never dipped as low as they have in 2025 for an extended period. He’s averaging virtually the same amount of points while having his worst shooting splits in a fully healthy season.

Yet, there isn’t a singular supernova in the league quite like the Baby-Faced Assassin when he gets hot, and he proved it again on Thursday. In Orlando, he was sublime, helping the Golden State Warriors continue their dominant run since trading for Jimmy Butler.

In the process, he tallied his ninth 50-point game since turning 30, the highest mark of all time. Even Wilt Chamberlain, trailing behind him with seven, is left in the dust.

With 22 points in the third quarter, a solid night turned superhuman as he racked up 12 three-pointers en route to scoring 56. Fans knew they were bearing witness to greatness.

Immediately, fans clamored for the day to be called Stephen Curry Day. Tweets like, “National Curry Day” went viral before the Warriors themselves acknowledged his greatness, tweeting, “February 27 aka Stephen Curry Day.”

But for those who’ve closely monitored his career, the importance of the three events helps tell the story of his career. “Start of a superstar, peak superstar, hopefully not the final shining moment of a superstar,” said one fan.

Some went so far as to call the Feb. 27 version of Curry the greatest player in the history of the sport, while others didn’t shy away from putting the four-time NBA Champion in that conversation.

“And skeptics still refuse to put him in the top 3 all time! The guy that after Jordan singlehandedly has transformed the NBA. Respect”

Everyone had their favorite from the three instances. While some went with the one against the New York Knicks that is most often seen as the world’s greatest coming-out party, others had a soft spot for the game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, if for no other reason than the iconic game-winner.

“Rebound taken by [Andre] Iguodala, ahead to Curry. They do have a timeout, decide not to use it. Curry from way downtown… BANG! BANG! Oh what a shot from Curry! With six-tenths of a second remaining,” is a call from legendary announcer Mike Breen that lives on in most fans’ memories.

However, for others, 2013 still took the cake, simply for the impact it had on Curry, and consequently, the NBA as a whole. “It’s crazy how iconic the Curry in the Garden game is. Like it’s hard to point to a singular game that legit put a player on the map. But that night in the Garden, Curry became a household name.”

Over a career that has spanned 15 seasons, the other “kid from Akron” has given us countless memories on the hardwood. Even with his unbelievable, spectacular exploits, Feb. 27 manages to continuously stand apart.
