Paolo Banchero’s Mother Seemingly Rips Magic Coach Jamahl Mosley in Heated Rant as Offensive Struggles Pile Up

The Orlando Magic began the season on a high note, securing back-to-back wins. However, they soon lost momentum, enduring five consecutive defeats. They managed to bounce back impressively, recording 12 wins in 13 games, but are currently on a three-game losing streak. In their most recent game on March 2, 2025, the Magic narrowly lost to the Toronto Raptors 104-102, with Paolo Banchero contributing 23 points.

Obviously, there’s something wrong with Orlando, and looking at the record book, it shows a significant factor in the Magic’s recent woes in offensive inefficiency, particularly in 3-point shooting.

Paolo Banchero’s Mom Criticizes Magic Head Coach Jamahl Mosley

Orlando currently ranks last in the NBA regarding long shots, converting only 30.5% of their 35.6 attempts per game. In the absence of a solid 3-point threat, the Magic’s opponents crowd the defense, making it even harder for them to score.

Now, Banchero’s mother is firing back at Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley over the team’s inconsistent performance. In the aftermath of the Magic’s recent losses, Rhonda Banchero, who at one point was the University of Washington women’s basketball program’s all-time leading scorer with 2,948 points, came down with a fiery tweet pointed at Orlando’s HC.

Rhonda expressed her concerns over the team’s strategy and direction.

“If roles are undefined, everyone thinks they can play the lead character.”

She followed up with another pointed remark.

“If you don’t have a plan, they don’t know what to execute. No anticipation, spotty energy, no synergy. Just randomness all over.”

Mosley has faced criticism for the team’s lack of offense. Following a 40-point loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Feb. 25, 2025, Mosley acknowledged the team’s shortcomings. Speaking about Orlando’s 3-point disparity, Mosley acknowledged that the team failed to perform to its potential, and they will work on it:

“More impossible. It’s more impossible than 17 to five. It’s 19 to five even more so. Listen, you give them credit. There are a lot of ways we can look at this, and there are a lot of ways we can discuss it, and we can go back and forth, and I do appreciate that we ask the questions and try to figure out what the problem is. Again, give them credit for being where they are right now and how hard they play and what they did, and they knocked down shots.

“You have to give them credit for that, for being the best team in the NBA for a reason. And then it’s about us and how we continue to go back to playing exactly how we need to play because we were playing good basketball. Tonight was not an indicator of that, but now we go to work tomorrow and figure out exactly how we get to that consistently.”

The Magic’s recent downturn has raised concern for their playoff possibilities. The team is currently eighth in the Eastern Conference with a 29-33 record and has lost six of its last 10 games.

The good news is Banchero, the focal point of the Magic’s offense, is performing consistently. He is averaging 23.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game and has been the leading scorer in four of Orlando’s last seven games.

However, with 20 games remaining in the regular season, the team has to work quickly on its gameplay to secure a berth in the playoffs.
