There is finally some hope and good news for Dallas Mavericks fans. Anthony Davis appears to be healing well from his injury and is reportedly nearing a comeback. After being traded to the Mavs for Luka Dončić, Davis went down in his first game with the team, sustaining a non-contact adductor strain.
Given that Dallas gave up a generational talent to acquire Davis, his immediate injury and being sidelined have greatly added to the frustrations of Mavs fans.
Thankfully, Davis’s latest injury update provides Mavs fans with some positivity and hope.

Upon hearing this report, fans were initially stunned and unsure if it was accurate. It is very rare for superstars to play in the G-League, and the Mavericks organization sending Davis to the G-League could be seen as a subtle message in itself.
Davis has missed 16 games for the Mavs and has been dealing with a problematic adductor injury. Reports reveal he will suit up for the Texas Legends and soon return to form.

There is a significant difference between playing for the Mavericks and their G-League team. Davis being sent to the G-League signals he has more work to do before being ready to compete at the NBA level.
According to reports, Davis was with the Texas Legends for just a day and has already been officially recalled by the Mavericks. While Davis is eager to return to the team, no official date has been set at this point.
Anthony Davis and Jaden Hardy have been officially recalled from their one-day practice stint with the @TexasLegends.
Hardy and two-way big man Kai Jones, I’m told, are in contention to be active for Dallas’ game Wednesday at Indiana.

Fans hearing about Davis gearing up for a return have begun to wonder if there is value in him returning for the remainder of the season. Given that co-star Kyrie Irving also went down with a torn ACL, perhaps it’s time to call it a season, and see what the Mavericks have for next season and beyond.
Even if Davis feels good to go within the next week, the Mavs’ chances of staying afloat and keeping their postseason aspirations alive are very slim.
Therefore, it might make more sense for him to continue rehabilitating and start fresh next season, increasing his chances of achieving something significant with the Mavs.
