Los Angeles Lakers fans might have to press pause on their hopes for another franchise title.
LeBron James, spearheading their possible championship run for the 2024-25 season, will be out for the upcoming few weeks with a new groin injury. As the Lakers lost 111-101 against the Boston Celtics, James exited the game with a groin injury.
However, the final update was slightly more concerning.
LeBron James to Miss Weeks After Groin Injury
As mentioned, James exited the Lakers game with a groin injury.
The four-time NBA Champion did his best to reassure fans, promising to work on his recovery and return to the court soon.
LeBron on his groin strain:
“Not much concern. Obviously I'm day-to-day. I'll look at it each day and see if it gets better. We'll take the proper measures to see what we need to do moving forward.”

“Not much concern. Obviously I’m day-to-day. I’ll look at it each day and see if it gets better. We’ll take the proper measures to see what we need to do moving forward,” James said about his injury.
As per NBA insider Shams Charania, James will miss 1-2 weeks approximately. However, he will be evaluated after 24 hours once his injury has calmed down.
“Typically with these soft tissue injuries, it leads to weeks long of absences and it could be a potentially extended period of time,” Shams said.

Reiterating that he will be reevaluated, Shams added: “Unlike in 2018, when LeBron James had that groin tear, I’m told he did not hear a pop last night in Boston. And unlike the last year when the Lakers were competing for a play-in tournament slot, this time around they are in the third seed in the Western Conference. They do have a level of cushion. An ability here to have caution with LeBron James to be right for the stretch run and the playoffs.”
He reminded fans that one has to keep in mind that James needs to play seven games more this season to qualify for an All-NBA team.
Averaging 25 points per game this season, James has made the All-NBA First Team 13 times in his career.

James’ injury came when he attempted a basket against Jaylen Brown, sporting a slight limp after the successful layup. Though he attempted to play, he ended up leaving the game eventually.
Speaking of his injury, James said postgame: “The last score I had on Jaylen Brown, probably extended it a little bit too much. A couple pivots and then when I landed I felt it.”
After the Celtics game, the Lakers are slated to play the Brooklyn Nets on March 11.
