LeBron James is used to winning on the biggest stage, but the night of March 14 wasn’t about him — it was about his son. The Los Angeles Lakers star was at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, watching Bryce James and Sierra Canyon High School compete in the CIF State Championship Final.
Despite dealing with a groin injury, LeBron was fully engaged, cheering from the sidelines. And when Sierra Canyon secured the win, he couldn’t hold back his excitement. Jumping, fist-pumping, and celebrating as if he had just won another NBA title, LeBron showed that no matter how many championships he wins, nothing beats watching his son succeed.
LeBron James Cheers as Sierra Canyon Wins State Title
LeBron made a grand entrance at the Sacramento Kings’ arena, and the crowd instantly reacted. Fans erupted in cheers when they spotted one of the greatest NBA players of all time courtside. He wasn’t alone — his wife, Savannah James, and daughter, Zhuri James, were also in attendance, supporting Bryce in his final high school game.

The game itself was a tough battle. Sierra Canyon faced Lincoln (Stockton) High School in a back-and-forth contest that stayed close until the final minute. With less than a minute to go, Bryce Cofield hit the go-ahead basket, giving Sierra Canyon a 53-51 lead. Moments later, Maxi Adams converted an and-1 play, pushing the lead to 56-51 and putting the game out of reach.
That’s when LeBron couldn’t hold back his emotions. Even though he was dealing with an injury, the Lakers star jumped up, celebrating wildly as Sierra Canyon sealed a 58-53 victory. He cheered, pumped his fists, and showed just how much the moment meant to him.

Bryce James’ Win Was a Special Night for the James Family
Sierra Canyon won its first state championship since 2019 and its fourth CIF state title overall. The last time they won, Bronny James was a freshman, and the pandemic cost them a chance at another. Now, with Bryce on the team and LeBron courtside, they finally returned to the top.
Bryce finished with three points on 1-of-9 shooting, five rebounds, two assists, and a block, but his presence helped Sierra Canyon pull off the win. Other key performances came from Gavin Hightower, who had 15 points, nine rebounds, and two assists, and Maxi Adams, who finished with 14 points, eight rebounds, three blocks, and a clutch three-pointer late in the game.
Despite his injury, LeBron made it a priority to be there for his son’s big night. When it was clear Sierra Canyon had won, he celebrated like any proud father would. Of all the championships the NBA veteran has won, this one — watching Bryce lift a trophy — may have been just as special.
