Khris Middleton Pens Heartfelt Message to Milwaukee, Bucks Fans, and the Organization After Shocking Trade to Wizards

Khris Middleton will soon debut with his new team, the Washington Wizards. After spending over a decade with the Milwaukee Bucks, the Bucks shockingly traded Middleton at the NBA trade deadline.

Before Middleton’s upcoming debut in D.C., he took to social media to thank everyone he could for his time in Milwaukee.

Middleton did not hold back when giving thanks after his trade to Washington became official.

“From the moment I stepped foot in this city, you embraced me,” Middleton said Friday in a social media post. “Together, we experienced the rebuilding years, the emergence of a championship contender, and ultimately, the unforgettable journey to the 2021 NBA Championship. That magical run will stay with me forever — the late-game shots, the comeback victories, and most importantly, bringing the Larry O’Brien Trophy back to Milwaukee after 50 years.”

Middleton paid tribute to the fanbase for how supportive they were of him throughout his time there.

“To the incredible Bucks fans: Your passion and support through every up and down has been nothing short of amazing,” Middleton wrote. “From the early days at the Bradley Center, to the energy at Fiserv Forum and the packed Deer District during our championship run — the way this entire city rallies behind its team is something special that I’ll always cherish.”

He then singled out the Bucks themselves for how they developed him.

“To the Bucks organization: Thank you for believing in me, developing me, and giving me the opportunity to grow from a trade piece into an All-Star and champion,” he said.

He concluded by praising Milwaukee as a city.

“To the Milwaukee community: This city has become my home,” Middleton said. “The relationships built, the community initiatives we’ve worked on together, and the countless memories made both on and off the court will stay with me forever. As I begin this new chapter, I’m excited for the opportunities ahead. But Milwaukee will always hold a special place in my heart. This isn’t goodbye — it’s thank you.”

Middleton was originally a throw-in when the Bucks traded Brandon Jennings to the Detroit Pistons for Brandon Knight in 2013. Because of how far he came since that point, trading him was not easy. General Manager Jon Horst said as much after the Bucks moved him to the Wizards for Kyle Kuzma.

“It has to be the hardest thing transactionally that I’ve ever done, from the human side of it, the roster side of it, the culture of the team, our community,” Horst said. “I’m incredibly close with Khris personally, his family. I probably have more Middleton jerseys in my house than anything and will still have more Middleton jerseys in my house than anything.”
