‘Doing Our Real Job’ — Jalen Brunson, Tom Thibodeau Have Hilarious Exchange After Knicks HC Calls During Podcast Recording (edited)

It’s clear that the New York Knicks like to mess with each other during their downtime. No one is exempt from this. Not even Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau.

Jalen Brunson and teammate Josh Hart called Thibodeau during their podcast, “Roommates Show,” in which Brunson and Thibodeau exchanged playful barbs during a short conversation.

Jalen Brunson Joked With Tom Thibodeau About ‘Doing Our Real Job’

During their podcast, Brunson was on a call with the Knicks head coach, hoping that he would share some of his thoughts on their show. Thibodeau refused, but they had a pretty funny exchange.

When Hart told Thibodeau they were doing a podcast, the coach responded with, “Oh God. Oh God, please, no.” After Brunson mockingly repeated Thibodeau’s words, he told his coach, “Like you said during practice today, ‘Go do a podcast,’ right? Because me and Josh I guess were BSing, so here we are.” Thibodeau made a snarky comment, commending them for “finally listening.”

Brunson then joked that on their podcast, they were doing their “real job.” Thibodeau told them to call him when they were “done messing around.” He then refused to give any more thoughts on the show.

However, when Brunson asked the coach about the Super Bowl, he took a jab at Brunson — a Philadelphia Eagles fan — saying that the Kansas City Chiefs would beat them. Thibodeau also admitted that he’s a New England Patriots fan and swore they would be back.

Needless to say, Thibodeau’s prediction did not come true. Brunson did not grow up in Philadelphia but went to Villanova University, which explains his ties to the Eagles. Thibodeau is from Connecticut, which explains why he’s a Patriots fan.

It is clear through their jabs at each other that there is a strong rapport between Thibodeau and his players. Even though the Knicks’ coach refused to indulge in being on their well-known show, that didn’t stop him and the others from cracking jokes with each other.

Players and coaches can sometimes view their relationships as strictly work and nothing else. However, the ones that can comfortably roast each other on camera show that there’s more here, which can benefit the Knicks; a happy locker room can go a long way in creating a successful playoff team.

Maybe Thibodeau would be willing to be on their podcast sometime soon, but maybe on a day when it’s not coming from a spontaneous call from his players.
