Duke’s Cooper Flagg Opens Up About NBA Future
After the Blue Devils’ 93-60 victory over Wake Forest on Monday, March 3, Flagg spoke to the reporters about his time at Duke and what would follow. Well, the young talent is looking to make the most of his present.
“I’m living in the present right now,” Flagg told reporters. “I’m living in the moment. Taking it day by day, practice by practice, game by game. I don’t know what the future holds.”
Flagg finished the game with 28 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists, shooting 62.5% from the floor and 50% from beyond the arc. Furthermore, Flagg made sure to mention the insane crowd present to support him and their team.
“The feeling I had — the crowd, it was the loudest it’s been all year,” Flagg said. “I was back on defense, and I could almost feel the building shaking.”
He added that Duke was the “best place” for college basketball, and he loved every single minute of this amazing season.
Averaging 19.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists, Flagg is already a favorite draft prospect. In fact, NBA fans have started deciding the best possible team for him.
Which NBA Teams Could Draft Flagg?
While Flagg might not have confirmed his future move, teams and fans are eagerly waiting for the 2025 NBA Draft and how it will shape up. After all, any team would be lucky to select the guard who has the frame to play a combination forward once in the NBA.
Well, to draft Flagg, a team will have to bag the No. 1 pick. As of now, the Washington Wizards, with an 11-49 record, are the top choice to land Flagg. The Charlotte Hornets (14-46), New Orleans Pelicans (17-44), and Utah Jazz (15-46) all remain in the mix.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers and Toronto Raptors (both with under 20 wins) also have a chance to land a top pick in the draft.
Scouts have lauded Flagg for his versatility, making him the perfect option for any team. Not only is he 6-foot-9, but he can also handle the frontcourt with ease while being a good defensive option.
For now, Flagg is slated to play against North Carolina on Saturday, March 8, at the Dean E. Smith Center.
