Philadelphia 76ers forward Paul George recently stated that he would take a break from podcasting to help his team make a push for the playoffs, but ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins feels that sentiment should extend to the New York Knicks’ Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart, who host the “Roommates” podcast.
However, his take didn’t sit well with the former NBA stars Raymond Felton and Theo Pinson, with the latter calling it “flat-out bulls**t.”
Theo Pinson and Raymond Felton Call Out Kendrick Perkins Over “Bulls**t” Take
While the Knicks are currently 40-20 and firmly planted at third in the Eastern Conference, they have had their share of problems, particularly in defense, and many feel Brunson and Hart need to work harder to improve it.
Kendrick highlighted the same during a recent episode of NBA Countdown on ESPN and suggested that the podcast was a distraction for the pair.
“I feel like Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart as well need to take a break because if you’re trying to go out there and honestly compete for the NBA championship, that should be your only goal.”
“Anything else outside of that is a distraction, right? I wish I would have walked in the 2008 locker room talking about podcasts through the season or anybody else. It would have been smoke and furniture moving around there.”
Pinson was fuming over Perkins’ remarks and minced no words, slamming the ESPN analyst on their podcast, To The Baha.
“It’s flat out bulls**t that Perk is suddenly talking trash now even though the Knicks were #2 in the East behind Brunson and Hart’s play.
“I will respect everybody more like if they came; hey listen, we’re in playoffs, we going chill cause we going lock-in, right? I’m cool with that. Everything else, I just don’t understand, but it’s not that big of a f**king deal.”
"It's flat out bull****, you weren't talking this **** when the Knicks were number two in the East, when they were balling."@tpinsonn with some strong words towards @KendrickPerkins after he said Jalen and Josh should shut down their podcast 🗣️

Meanwhile, Felton, who played for the Knicks from 2012-14, called out Perkins for his bold statement that there would have been “smoke and furniture moving” if someone was podcasting on his 2008 Boston Celtics team.
“Man, what furniture he moving?” Felton asked. “In what locker room? 2008 locker room? What you gonna tell KG [Kevin Garnett] and Paul Pierce? What you telling [Rajon] Rondo? They gonna cuss you out.”
Felton further taunted Perkins, saying that he was a “little homie” on that 2008 Celtics team. He isn’t wrong either, as Perkins was just in his fifth season that year, while Garnett and Pierce had been in the league for over 10 seasons.
While it’s unlikely that Perkins’ suggestion of closing down the podcast will affect Brunson and Hart, the Knicks will need to play better to be contenders for an NBA championship, especially on the defensive end.
