LeBron James has had some legendary running mates in his 21-year NBA career—Dwyane Wade, Kyrie Irving, Anthony Davis, and now Luka Dončić. But after just 11 games with Luka, the media is already calling him LeBron’s favorite teammate.
Wade, the guy who actually won rings with Bron, is not having it. And in classic D-Wade fashion, he dropped a blunt three-word warning to shut down the noise. As always, Wade is not taking any prisoners.
Dwyane Wade Calls Out Luka-LeBron Comparisons
D-Wade had enough of the comparisons and made his stance clear during an episode of the “7PM in Brooklyn” podcast with Carmelo Anthony. When the topic of Luka being LeBron’s “favorite teammate” came up, Wade didn’t hold back.
“So, I’m not going to say anything about him playing with me similarities. I ain’t with that, like, we champions over here,” Wade said, reminding everyone of the back-to-back titles he won with Bron in Miami.
He then fired back at the narrative that Luka had already surpassed LeBron’s past teammates.
“How y’all going to just—Kyrie Irving is over there. Every time LeBron wanna play with somebody, they want to go right back, and he is better than this. What happened to Anthony Davis? Did we forget about him?”
“I ain’t with that. We champions over here … we ain’t going there bro.”

That was when Wade hit his boiling point and delivered the message loud and clear: “They got to stop this sh*t.”
Wade’s frustration isn’t hard to understand. LeBron has shared the floor with some of the greatest talents in NBA history—Wade, Kyrie, Bosh, Davis, and even prime Kevin Love. Yet, after just a handful of games, the media is already anointing Luka as the best of them all.
Wade and LeBron: A Championship Brotherhood
Wade was more than just a great teammate for the King. He was Bron’s brother in basketball. When LeBron made the “tough call” to leave Cleveland for Miami in 2010, Wade had his back through all the criticism. Together, they built a dynasty, winning back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013.
But it wasn’t all smooth sailing. The Heat struggled in their first year, losing the 2011 Finals to the Mavericks. That’s when Wade made the ultimate sacrifice. He stepped back, handed Bron the keys, and let him fully take over as the guy. The result? LeBron hit his peak, dominating the league and leading the Heat to two championships.
So yeah, Wade earned the right to talk about who LeBron’s best teammate is. And if he’s saying, “Stop this sh*t,” maybe it’s time for everyone to pump the brakes on the Luka hype, at least for now.
