Devin Booker could not hold back his emotions when discussing the Phoenix Suns’ most recent loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. With the second half of the 2024-2025 NBA season underway, the Suns are one of the teams in the Western Conference desperately fighting to secure a spot in the playoffs.
The Suns recently played the Memphis Grizzlies in a dramatic overtime game that they lost. After the match, Booker was interviewed and asked about the loss. Fans may want to know what the Suns star had to say.
Devin Booker Fouled Out of the Suns–Grizzlies Game
One could argue that Booker is simply making excuses to justify a loss. After all, the Grizzlies were only given four more foul calls than the Suns, which does not indicate too much bias. However, Booker felt the NBA referees’ poor officiating cost his team this game.
“I still think we had opportunities to win the game. Makes it hurt that much worse, but I think a poorly officiated game throughout tonight… Just the inconsistency. Not saying one thing is a foul or the other, but if it’s a foul on the other end, you just keep it consistent.”

Fans who heard Booker’s statements appeared to agree with him. Many pointed out that Ja Morant was given 14 free throws via foul calls, while Kevin Durant was hardly able to get any despite being hacked at throughout the game.
All of this is simply a matter of perspective. However, there is no denying that NBA officials have not been living up to expectations recently. After all, most fans concluded that this was a poorly officiated game.
In any case, this loss hurts the Suns significantly. They currently hold a record of 27 wins and 31 losses. That places them 11th in the Western Conference and means that they would not qualify for the playoffs if the season had ended today.
Although the general public agrees that this game was badly officiated, that does not change the fact that the Suns have been struggling to gain momentum throughout the season. If things continue in this manner, they are not expected to have any significant impact in the postseason.
