With the 2024-25 NBA season’s trade deadline just days away, the Sacramento Kings are reportedly actively trying to trade their 27-year-old former All-Star De’Aaron Fox. Fox’s eight-year tenure with the Kings might be over after being drafted by Sacramento fifth overall in the 2017 NBA Draft.
According to ESPN’s senior NBA insider Shams Charania, the Kings are opening up talks to potentially deal the All-Star point guard ahead of the Feb. 6 trade deadline. There will be plenty of suitors, but it’s believed that Fox has a target destination in mind ahead of the 2026 free agency.
De’Aaron Fox’s Salary, Contract, and Net Worth
While in the NBA, Fox has earned $150,126,640 over his eight-year career. When Fox was drafted by the Kings, he signed a four-year, $24,572,507 rookie contract.
In 2024-25, Fox will earn a base salary of $34,848,340, while carrying a cap hit of $34,848,340 and a dead cap value of $34,848,340. He’s the 39th highest-paid NBA player this year and is making 6.89% more than he did in 2023-24. Also, he is the second-highest-paid player on the Kings this year.
During the 2023-24 season, Fox was the 38th highest-paid NBA player and was the 20th highest-paid guard. Also, he was the highest-paid player on the Kings in 2023.
The former Kentucky prospect signed a five-year, $163,000,300 contract with Sacramento in 2021, including $163,000,300 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $32,600,060. If there is no extension agreed upon, Fox will earn $37,096,620 next season in his last year on his active contract.
In 2021, Fox signed a five-year, $163 million contract with the Kings, and he turned down a $165 million contract extension offer from Sacramento last summer. If Fox doesn’t sign an extension, he will be a free agent after the 2025-2026 season. If traded, he is no longer eligible for a supermax contract, which would be $345 million over five years.
