The Philadelphia 76ers are experiencing one of their most disappointing seasons in quite some time. They are currently 20-37 and will face the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden.
When Paul George signed a 4-year, $212 million dollar contract to join the team, one could imagine this wasn’t what he expected. The Sixers are currently 12th in the Eastern Conference, far lower than they hoped to be.
With only 25 games left in the regular season for the Sixers, they would need to lock in to make a run at the playoffs. Their schedule isn’t the most favorable, but it seems the Sixers are not giving up on those playoff hopes.
Paul George Takes Podcast Hiatus To Help Sixers Playoff Push
George has been active on his podcast “Podcast P with Paul George” for a while. He’s consistently released podcast episodes for the last few years, becoming a mainstay in the podcast world.
“Podcast P with Paul George” boasts 784,000 subscribers on YouTube, but recently, George announced that he would be taking a break from podcasting to help the 76ers try to push for the playoffs over these last 25 games.

“I want to let the podcast P family know that after today’s episode with Dwight I plan to take a break from the Pod just to focus on getting my body right getting mentally right and you know help this squad make a a push towards our goal to finish the season out give ourselves a chance to be in contentions to compete for a championship”.
George, who is averaging 16.2 points a game, is currently having his worst scoring year in over 9 seasons. George is also averaging 5.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists.
While stepping away from the podcast is admirable for George, with the health of Joel Embiid up in the air, and George having health issues of his own throughout the season, there’s a chance this doesn’t play out well for the team.
Can the 76ers Make a Playoff Push?
One look at the Sixers’ remaining schedule will put you in doubt of their chances to make the playoffs or even rise back into the play-in. Their next two games are against the Knicks and the surging Golden State Warriors, which could both result in losses.
Aside from those games, over the next few weeks, the 76ers have to battle the Boston Celtics, the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Indiana Pacers, the Houston Rockets, and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
All of those teams listed are currently in the playoff or play-in picture and pose problems for the 76ers. The Sixers do have some games that favor them against the Portland Trailblazers and Utah Jazz, but they need to win as many as possible to have a shot.
Will George’s plan to step away from podcasting truly help the Sixers? One could argue that if George needs to step away from podcasting to focus better on the court, that says enough about why the Sixers are where they are.
It will be a daunting task for George and the 76ers to pull off, but the biggest question mark of their season will be what happens next with Joel Embiid.
