NBA Legend Shaquille O’Neal Reveals His NFL MVP Pick, and It Isn’t Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, or Saquon Barkley

LSU legend and former NBA superstar Shaquille O'Neal is riding true with his roots when making his pick for the 2025 NFL MVP.

Shaquille O’Neal, who played basketball at LSU, is pulling for two of his fellow Tigers during the NFL postseason. He is rooting for Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals to win the NFL Most Valuable Player Award. He is also pulling for Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders to win the Super Bowl as he follows both Heisman winners very carefully.

Shaquille O’Neal Pulls for His Fellow Tigers in NFL Postseason

O’Neal does not bat an eye at the thought of Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson or Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen winning the NFL MVP Award. He believes Burrow should win the award as O’Neal said he had the best season.

“Every time he steps on the field, and he’s playing well, he’s definitely considered the best,” O’Neal said in an exclusive interview with RG’s Chrissy Floyd. “If he’s in the conversation, he has a chance to win.”

Burrow led the NFL in passing yards (4,918) and touchdown passes (49) and ranked fourth in completion percentage (70.6%).

He also said he believes Daniels and the Commanders can make the Super Bowl. He’s showing love to his LSU guys.

“I think they have a strong chance of making it to the Super Bowl,” O’Neal said of Daniels’ Commanders. “For him to win the Heisman, play in the state of Louisiana, and then come into this first year of his NFL career with a chance to win a Super Bowl, I think that is huge for him.”

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (9) celebrates after the game-winning touchdown pass to Tee Higgins in overtime of the NFL Week 17 game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Denver Broncos at Paycor Stadium in downtown Cincinnati on Saturday, Dec. 28, 2024. The Bengals took a 30-24 win in overtime to remain in the post season chase.

Like Joe Cool, Daniels transitioned to the NFL with multiple honors under his belt that are highly award-worthy. Daniels has a realistic opportunity to go all the way as he’s completed 69% of his passes for 3,568 yards with 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions to this point in the season.

Well-known for his true dual-threat ability, there are several quarterbacks with physical tools, mobility, and a strong degree of escapability in the modern era, but few can pair it with a strong passing ability.

Daniels has carried the ball 148 times for 891 yards. He also scored six touchdowns carrying the ball.

“I have also been paying a ton of attention to Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders. That was a major turnaround,” O’Neal said.
