Who Is Nate Wiggins? Height, Weight, Age, and More

    Published on

Clemson's star cornerback turned plenty of heads during his college career, but where does Nate Wiggins rank in the 2024 NFL Draft class?

Nate Wiggins is considered one of the best cornerbacks coming out of the 2024 NFL Draft. Here’s everything you need to know about the young prospect.

    How Tall Is Nate Wiggins?

In terms of overall height, Wiggins has good size for his position, standing at 6’1″. Compared to other smaller corners in this class, Wiggins is in the upper percentile of height — a good barometer to see whether he could be an outside or slot cornerback in the NFL. His 30 1/2″ arm length, though, puts him in the 18th percentile of corners.

    How Much Does Wiggins Weigh?

While his height is certainly a plus, Wiggins’ weight leaves much to be desired. His 173-pound frame places him in just the second percentile at the position and will leave questions surrounding his overall playmaking ability against bigger wide receivers in the NFL.

Wiggins makes up for what he lacks in his smaller frame in blazing speed. His 4.28 40-yard dash stunned onlookers at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine and was the fastest of any player at his position.

    How Old Is Wiggins?

Wiggins was born on August 28, 2003. At just 20 years old, the Atlanta native is among the younger players in the draft as a whole but comes with 27 games played during his college career.

That experience, combined with his youthful status, will leave plenty of teams interested in getting the young phenom to develop under their organization. Sure, he’ll be 21 by the time the new season rolls around, but he’s still a very young prospect.

What School Did Wiggins Go To?

After a successful senior season at Westlake High School in Atlanta, Wiggins originally committed to play college football at LSU as a four-star recruit. He then switched his commitment to Clemson just four days before national signing day.

    Revisiting Wiggins’ College Career

Wiggins played in just four games his freshman season with the Tigers but recorded two passes defended. He broke out in his sophomore season with a 98-yard interception returned for a touchdown in the ACC title game — the longest in the game’s history.

During his final season at Clemson, received first-team All-ACC honors after picking off two passes, returning another one for a score, and forcing two fumbles.

In three seasons combined with Clemson, Wiggins tallied three tackles for losses, 21 passes defended, three interceptions, two returned for TDs, and a sack to boot.

    Wiggins’ Potential in the NFL

Wiggins is an interesting prospect. His overall size leaves many to believe he can play multiple positions at corner, but his smaller frame could make him susceptible to being overpowered by bigger receivers.

Pro Football Network draft analyst Ian Cummings ranks Wiggins as a top-five cornerback prospect in this draft cycle with an emphasis on being able to play in multiple defensive alignments.

“Wiggins is a young and promising CB who has all of the tools to be a productive and multidisciplined cover man at the next level,” Cummings said. “At around 6’2″, 182 pounds, he’s a lean athlete with an enthralling mix of quickness, elite closing speed, fluidity, and ball skills.

“Beyond that physical combination, Wiggins also has some of the best coverage instincts, eyes, reaction speed, and route recognition in the class. He can blanket WRs in off-man and click-and-close without giving up room. And on reps from space, he can transition from his pedal in zone and hawk in front of ill-fated passes.”
