Two years ago, NASCAR experienced a bizarre, weather-affected Cup Series weekend in the deserts of Nevada during the 2023 Pennzoil 400. With multiple incidents, including a late caution, the race extended into overtime. Yet, despite the chaos, NASCAR managed to wave the checkered flag just in time.

Amidst such an unpredictable history, the entire American motorsport community is yearning for yet another chaotic race this weekend around the Speedway Las Vegas. However, what really awaits the 2025 Pennzoil 400 in terms of the weather? Heading into the week, Vegas has been witnessing quite erratic weather, with spots of thunderstorms coupled with powerful wind gusts.

Furthermore, there is an active wind advisory for parts of Nevada, with gusts up to 50 mph. However, things are likely to settle down before the start of qualifying on Saturday afternoon, with both rain and wind taking a back seat until the checkered flag falls over the race weekend on Sunday.

What Does the Weather Look Like for the Pennzoil 400?

The qualifying is likely to take place on a windy Saturday afternoon, with gusts reaching up to 35 mph. Therefore, one can anticipate a few mistakes leading to a mix-up on the final grid for the race. Apart from that, the coast looks absolutely clear for NASCAR to complete a clean race in Las Vegas this weekend, with the sun beating down on both days.

    Las Vegas Weekend Weather Forecast

    • Saturday, March 15: Mostly sunny with a high of 68°F (20°C) and a low of 45°F (7°C).
    • Sunday, March 16: Partly sunny with a high of 71°F (22°C) and a low of 54°F (12°C).

This is certainly good news for Christopher Bell, who is chasing after his fourth consecutive race win of the season. When the weather played spoilsport a year ago, William Byron and Kyle Larson dominated their way to a one-two finish at the 2023 Pennzoil 400.

Therefore, with no precipitation on the cards, can Bell capitalize on his run of form to stop the powerful Hendrick Motorsports outfit?
