NASCAR Legends Jimmie Johnson, Richard Petty Spotted at Martin Truex Jr.’s Late Partner’s Wellness Center Opening

Seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champions Jimmie Johnson and Richard Petty took some time out of their busy lives to attend the opening of Sherry Pollex’s SherryStrong Integrative Wellness Center over the weekend.

The center says it will offer cancer patients and their families “healing beyond traditional treatments.” The SherryStrong Integrative Wellness Center was inaugurated at Daytona Beach in partnership with the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation.

It is, of course, named after Sherry Pollex, who was in a relationship with Truex Jr. from 2005-2023. The pair announced they were parting ways in January 2023. Pollex died in September that year at 44 years of age after fighting ovarian cancer for nearly a decade.

Richard Petty Drops a Message After Attending SherryStrong Wellness Center Inauguration

Johnson and Petty posed for a few pictures at the center to pay ode to the efforts of the people involved in setting up the center.

“Honored to attend the grand opening of the SherryStrong Integrative Wellness Center in AdventHealth today! This incredible facility is making a real difference, and it was great to see it firsthand,” Petty wrote on social media.

The Martin Truex Jr. Foundation donated $1.25 million towards the wellness center while the NASCAR Foundation also lent its support to raise $1.8 million through a fundraising effort with the AdventHealth Daytona Beach Foundation.

“Sherry was a fierce advocate for integrative medicine in the fight against cancer and she inspired many with her strength, grace and ‘never give up’ mentality,” Lisa Backer, executive director of the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation said. Becker added that Pollex’s legacy will live on through the center.

Throughout her battle with ovarian cancer, Pollex advocated for funding toward cancer research. In 2007, two years after entering into a relationship with Truex, she started a foundation in his name for children in need. After her cancer diagnosis, the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation started focusing on driving funding towards cancer initiatives specific to childhood and ovarian cancers.
