After making an early exit in the 2025 Daytona 500, Martin Truex Jr. will reportedly return to racing at some point this year. The NASCAR veteran disclosed this information to an insider after crashing out early during the race.
Martin Truex Jr.’s NASCAR Dreams Still Live On
Alan Cavanna, a motorsports journalist who caught up with Truex outside the care center, posted on his X account claiming that the driver told him that the Daytona 500 would not be his last ride. However, he did not let him in on any further details about his future.

Despite retiring from the sport in 2023, Truex made a spectacular return this year at the Daytona 500. His return was a deeply personal moment for him as he wanted to honor his father, Martin Truex Sr.’s legacy.
Driving the No. 56 Toyota, his father’s old number, Truex hoped to win the race, but unfortunately, fate was not on his side. He ended the race after being caught in a multi-car wreck on Lap 71.
The crash, which was a result of Joey Logano having engine trouble, was a heartbreaking moment for Truex, as this race was seen as his last attempt to win the Daytona 500. Yet, this new development has fans hoping to see him back on the track soon.
Talking about driving the No. 56 car for TRICON Garage before the race, Truex told Fox Sports’ Regan Smith, “So far, it’s been fun. We’ve got a nice cast of characters on our car that have been around a long time.
“Bunch of really good guys. Got Cole [Pearn, Truex’s crew chief] to come back down to do it, so it’s been a lot of fun, and hopefully, we can have a good night tonight and a good night tomorrow night and have some fun on Sunday.”
The 2017 NASCAR champ was among the four open car drivers to qualify for The Great American Race along with Jimmie Johnson, Justin Allgaier, and Corey LaJoie.
Which Potential Races Could Truex Target?
While fans excitedly await the announcement, many are speculating it would potentially be Dover, Darlington, or New Hampshire.
One fan said, “Would have to be Dover or New Hampshire if one were to guess.”
